I did the 'road' test on mine. I practiced a lot, about 20km worth of circles and turns and slow riding in my driveway and backyard.

If you practice it won't matter what bike you take the test on I'd assume. Mine was hard at first, but was easy as pie after practice.


I found a local place that would fudge the insurance papers up on the assumption that I'd be getting my license the day they signed the papers for.

I certainly intend to get the license ASAP, I just need to get some 'illegal' practice first.

Also, I dunno Canadian laws, but even if you practice on private property - unless its your property (or you have consent from the owners) - I can't imagine the whole "What I do in my space is my business" loophole is valid.

Again - just practice on it. We're realistically talking a couple hours of tooling around getting comfortable knowing how to let the clutch out.

After the written if you haven't already, get the sheet from the driver examiner of the road test. Take out some pop cans and a measuring tape and practice practice practice. That's what I did, took the test and by the end the guy wasn't even watching me anymore, he started a girl up on her scooter midway through.


After that, went for a drive with a co-worker, he promptly got in an accident hitting a car that stopped short on the other side of the intersection with a green light. I got to spend my first afternoon with my bike at the hospital emergency room.
124km later that day called it quits for the night.

I'm loving it ever since, all of 3 days of sun and 4 of rain.

Actually that's exactly what the drivers examiner tells us to do. To take it on private property and practice there.
And the laws differ by province. It's easier and harder to get your license in New Brunswick then in Ontario. Easier it's one test, 5 minutes of driving, bam. Harder you can't practice legally the majority of the time.

I got my license! I am so pumped!
