I purchased and read a copy of the complete Hurt Report back in the early 1980s. It's still worth a read. The lastest comprehensive study was the MAIDS Report done in Europe a few years ago.
Much of the Hurt Report is still relevant, IMO. The main obstacle to a new comprehensive report is a lack of funding.
Now we have much more of a problem with distracted driving (cell phones, etc) and the proliferation of SUVs than we did when the Hurt Report was done over thirty years ago.
