Hopefully he's not ringing it out because it's cold... that would be the opposite of what the bike needs. Let it warm up before taking off.

That being said, I'd be more likely to rev the throttle when splitting, simply because I want people to know I'm coming so they wont open their door or something, and constantly honking would be annoying. I suppose it's debatable though if them knowing you're coming would make them less or more prone to trying to hit or block you, I've seen both.

That method is taught in Motorcycle classes for slow speed riding, like in the slalom between the coins. I use it in slow traffic all the time.

True, but you certainly don't need to wring out the engine, as it sounds this guy (in original post) is doing.

For that slow speed stuff you certainly don't need a lot of tq or HP on hand...My VTX has so much tq off idle, when I feather the clutch, I only use the clutch, don't even rev the engine.

A supersport should be able to do slow speed maneuvers just fine feathering the clutch and reving the engine between 4-6rpm.

If he's making a lot of noise, you can bet that he

A)just doensn't know he doesn't need to (squid)
or
B) Likes making excess noise from revving the engine (squid)
