I've actually gotten more snubs from sport bike riders when I'm on the Harley. Not sure why there is a separation between the two groups, or why people care. There appear to be jerks who own sport bikes and jerks who own Harley's.
I agree on that one. I wave to anyone I see on two wheels. People who don't wave back are more often than not guys on sport bikes.
I was riding with a friend and he made the same sort of comment because three sport bikers riding together never waved back at us as we passed. I had to correct him, one nodded his head, the other two lifted their fingers off the clutch. Now I don't ride a GSXR, never will, But I do know, that if you're not that experienced, removing a hand from the bars just might not be that great of an idea. I've also seen the barely perceptable nod from Harley riders at times as well, (Especially if they're in a group...)
So next time, take a close look before you condemn some other rider to a reputation of snobbery...

Maybe we should all get those clapping hats and pull on the string?

that would be obvious!
In all seriousness always good to check for other ways of acknowledging a wave. I get lots of nods from sport bikers afraid to wreck I suppose.
BTW am I also in a group of minorities using the word "Cager" everytimes I've used this word around my cycle buddies they are like "What?"

I never wave while in the city. Sounds like I may be pissing a few people off about that. Oh well.

I wave at everyone and most wave back.
Maybe it's because I'm a girl.
Try dressing in "girl" colors and see if you get a different response.

Yeah, same here, although here the HA's are the ones that won't wave, well, not all, but most.
I wave at 'em all!
(Cute, girl colors...yep, that's all them guys got to do. Either that or get them stick on ponytails...although they may get more attention than they want, or the wrong kind!!

Wow - now
that's original...

Nothing like bringing up tired old topics (do a search around here - it's been discussed to death) with ridiculous stereotypes to boot.
I wave as long as I'm not busy on the controls, and I don't really pay attention to what type of "bikes" don't wave back. Most do wave back, but if they don't, I really don't care to judge what the reasoning is.
Wait - there was one guy I purposely didn't wave at, but it was only because he was busy scratching at his balls, and I was caught a bit off guard as I passed - didn't want to disturb his moment.
Cheers,
Loonette

I wave at most, but only if I'm not busy. If I need my hand on the clutch I can at least get a nod off in their direction. The only people I don't wave or nod at are those in flip-flops.
If I don't get a wave back I figure they are either busy or they didn't see me. I know I've passed people and didn't see them wave until I was halfway passed them.

I'm with techyguru, if I can't wave (like in the middle of a decreasing radius blind turn) I often nod or at least lift my fingers off the grip, but if I need my full concentration on a canyon road or in heavy traffic, that's certainly my priority.
Most riders who don't wave or wave back in my area are on Harleys, and I'm riding a sportbike. But it was worse when I rode a dual sport, hardly anyone waved, but it doesn't offend me. I'm out there to ride my moto, not make a statement. Actually the last Harley rider who did wave at me was in front of me in a canyon, and he moved over to let me by. He was straining on his big 1200, I was loafing along behind him on my 500, but I wasn't tailgaiting him. He seemed really disgusted though.
I wave at scooters and cyclists too.
