How mechanically inclined are you?

There's a '96 1200 for sale for $2500 right now around Albany...

The only catch is that the motor comes in a number of boxes. Some assembly required

I wish I had $2500 to spare. That would be seriously fun.

Never done it before + two kids under the age of 18 months= not a chance in hell. But it would be fun...

You'll be happy you went with what you really wanted.

When do you bring it home?

Thanks, I think I will too, but I needed the justification (I'm not the only one in my house bitchin about the budget increase...if you catch my drift).

I have to find the right one first, and I will surely keep you all updated. I'm looking at a few private sales this weekend. We'll see... 8)

Okay fellas, no pics yet, but I got an 04 1200 Custom in dark blue, 2400 miles, almost bone stock. Its just got a sissy bar and a set of SE II pipes. Not a scratch on it, I paid $6400. Speaking of which, the sissy bar is rigid mounted, can I swap it out for a detachable without having to buy a new upright?

Pics to follow, once I get home early enough to snap some in the sunlight, I haven't even been able to ride it yet, its been sitting in the garage since Sunday :frusty:

Excellent find on the Sporty with the rubber-mounted engine!

Good deal too.

I think a 1200 would be better for you then an 883, go for it ;-) you'll probably regret it if you dont... I just sold my 500 Buell Blast, and bought a 1200 Sportster custom, big difference in power but I LOVE IT! and who ever it was that said a sportster is a "girls bike" i dont agree- only reason i bought it was b/c of the price- otherwise I would own a softail! I am a female and dont think there is "guys" or "girls" bikes as long as you can ride and control the bike ;-)
