If those were my only criteria for buying a bike, I would be on a BMW. But I prefer something that makes my heart beat a little faster every time I see it... beauty being in the eye of the beerholder, and all that.

The Vision is fugly. It may be the best performing and handling bike out there, but it's still fugly.

IMHO, YMMV, etc, etc.

i hear ya, and i understand.

i've never liked the HD batwing and HATE the look of the shark fairing on yours

however,

i would never say "harley makes some nice bikes, but that's not one of them. i have no idea why someone would spend money on that"

simply because i know that they ARE nice bikes, just not aestetically pleasing to me.

and for the record, even though i hate the looks of the Vision(well, i think the "O Ring"-end is kinda cool),

it rode so well that i might be able to put aside some of my prejudice and possibly own one one day...

kinda like when you're 15 you don't think 60 year old women are hot, but when you're 80 you probably think they are SMOKIN.

hey, i agree that it's ugly. (i think only the goldwing is uglier)

BUT

i at least gave it a test ride, and guess what?

it's amazing.

it rides like a dream, doesn't feel heavy in the least bit, and is QUICK.

so if you ever decide to judge a motorcycle by function and performance and not just by how poseriffic it looks, go ahead and throw a leg over.

I'm not judging just on looks. Just like you'd presumably not judge just on form and function.

But, seriously, who wants to be riding a bike that they find hideously and pathetically ugly? I'd gladly cruise around a Vegas, Fat Boy, or maybe even a Goldwing. But I won't be caught dead on that hideous monstrosity, even if it gives me a lovely ball massage while riding.

Looks aren't everything, but sometimes they matter ;)

If function and performance was the only criteria, wouldn't one buy a Honda not a BMW?

well, all i can say is:

after riding a couple hours in upstate NY in 30-40 degree weather on an unfaired bike without electric gear...

getting on the vision and having the automatic winshield whirred into just the right place, the heated seat and the heated grips,

ripping through the backroads almost scraping the pegs of this beast that felt half its weight...accellerating FASTER then my 13 sec. sporty....

the radio volume going up and down when you slowed or sped up...

the feeling of sitting in a cadillac while admiring the backroad scenery,

i didn't care if it had "I'm a moron" painted on the side of it...

in fact, when the dealer who was with me had me switch and ride the 8-ball (that i origially WANTED to test ride and thought i'd LOVe and HATE the vision...) i switched back at the next stopsign.

i was in heaven for a short while....i didn't want to get back onto my (in my eyes) gorgeous sportster roadster.

p.s. it's still pug fugly, though..

If it really handles that well it may be worth customizing the aesthetics.

Thanks for the new quote Jonnythan.
Dyin'? Boy, he can have this little life any time he wants to. Do ya hear that? Are ya hearin' it? Come on. You're welcome to it, ol' timer. Let me know you're up there. Come on. Love me, hate me, kill me, anything. Just let me know it.
