I know what you are saying... I think. My first choice cost about $21,500US. Unfortunately, I only had about $1000US so I had to go with my second choice... a fixer for $350

Look, I've asked you nicely and politely three times to back up your statements and I still haven't gotten a decent response from you. I haven't resorted to name calling or insults or threats, so I really don't see what the problem is here. You said you were a dealer mechanic that worked on Harleys - to me that means you should have much more experience with them than the average rider and should therefore be able to offer some factual insight to the brand. I've had conversations with dealer mechanics of many different makes and have learned quite a bit that way, so I'm curious to hear YOUR opinions on why the Victory is a better bike than the Harley. Or is this too much to ask?

As for the single Keihin carb, well no sh*t Sherlock. :D If I'd wanted a totally American made bike I would have bought a Gold Wing, Kawasaki Concours or a Victory but there were more factors in my decision than just the amount of American content. BTW, I'm Canadian so it really doesn't matter to me where my bike(s) are built. Check the Start Your Engines section here for my "Gananoque Greetings" thread, you'll see that it just isn't Harleys that I've ridden over the past 23 years. And like I said before, you obviously haven't taken the time to read my "Confessions of a Harley owner" thread in the Total Motorcycles section.

look :P i never said they were junk nor did i attack you. i said they were far behind. you came back with oh oh show me some facts. thats the truth.
what facts do you want. are saying i wasnt a mechanic????

do you want facts like harley still uses a pushrod 2 valve design?? or what?
yes victory started out soft but today they are putting out better crusiers hands down. if you cant admit that your crazy.

cheaper? hmm around here you can deal on any victory. harley more like a good 3-4k above msrp!! that's real cool. how about 50 hp from a 1200??? and a bike that you have to use loc-tite on every single fastener. because they shake so bad. victory is much smoother also. plus a higher rev band. also the standard glide you have is heavier then the V92tc.

yes the brakes are a huge advatage that alone sets them apart. to me the chassie and brakes are more important. not just straight line ride.

how about standard fuel injection on all models. dont you find it messed up that harley goes to great lengths to hide the japanese parts on their bike?

will you find keihin anywere on that carb??? nope but you will find a harley logo. same with the spark plugs, nissin brakes, showa fork, and also makeing sure every bolt is SAE? how about the mono shock on the victory's? man everywere you look they are ahead.

what in the world do you want to here?? nothing i gather? unless its harley is the best.

i alwalys thought they were over rated and still do. but i still like them. just not the majority of people who buy them. and your proving to be one of them.

yeah they all think they are fast and tough. hmm a 1450cc crusier that struggles into the 14's. yeah i cant wait to put on straight pipes and sound real bad.yeah there are people with every make who do that but most harley buyer's have that done before they even take delivery!

i have ridden alot of bikes. i used to own a vtx1800 even. i started out on a 87 700 shadow. so i like all bikes.

why dont you tell me some facts on why harley is better??? screaming eagle and iron crosses to the end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you grow up man and realize there are better bikes out there. if you love your standard flh then great. but you can really sit there and claim harley is on the cutting edge. when harley sits back and rides the image and dosent care a hoot about bringing out new tech. the v-rod you say hmm thats why they sit on the dealer floors and collect dust. had to go to porshe to design a more poweful engine? speaking of power crusiers have you ever ridden a 85 through present v-max???? hmm way back in 85 yamaha got it right.

get real man and take a chill because nothing i say will ever change your mind. i dont know you and dont really care about sharing my hard earn knowledge to someone with your adittude.

Had to wade through a lot of cr*p to find anything worthwhile in your post, what a waste of time that was. Since you're incapable of having a conversation or debate without getting all defensive, it's a moot point trying to get anything else out of you. You've read way too much into what I've said and STILL haven't answered my question, all you can do is mouth off and claim that I have an attitude, so it's obvious to me that you have an axe to grind with anyone who owns a Harley. Poor, poor you.

Now I know for sure I'm dealing with a phony. FYI, Harleys are now 1450cc and have two cams - unless you were referring to the Sportster? Anyway, I have just under 40,000km on my one year old bike now and have yet to replace a lost bolt or use Loc-Tite on anything. When did you last work as a mechanic, 1978? Time for a refresher course.

Well, judging by the intelligence level of your response I'd say Rock, Paper, Scissors is about your speed. You go first.
