I have absolutely no problem with wind noise. My helmet has no face shield. My ride has a large windscreen, windshield, fairing, whatever you want to call it.

Mind you I do wear ear plugs, but only because the exhaust is so loud. ha ha

A bomb dropped on the house next door to where my wife lived when she was a small girl of three. The trauma affected her sight and she has worn glasses ever since. Some years ago she found a new oculist who gave her a much better prescription for her glasses. She wore them for a week, then took them back saying that she never realised that there was so much dust in the world, and she didn't like having to clean it all up.

Unfortunately, I don't share her preference for living in a fuzzy world and not always being able to hear what people say drives me nuts.

i have gauges in my ears (for those that dont know, those are really big holes in my ear lobes, 1/2inch) when i ride with no helmet i get this sound, it sounds exactly like a cop siren i swear i keep looking in my mirror thinking im being pulled over, it sucks lol. with a helmet though i dont get any wind noise really...

That's one cool looking helmet. Looks like it was designed for jousting. If I had a spare $400...

what about head phones and music?

anyone have an opinion on that?

I've got to agree with Ron B - the scarf really helps a lot. I wrap it around my neck, over my face, then tuck the rest in the front of my jacket. I put the chinstrap of the helmet over that. With all that on, very little wind gets up into the bottom of the helmet, and it's almost dead quiet. The under the chin wind makes a LOT of noise.

Shoei (and I think Arai) sell optional chin curtains for their helmets for exactly that reason - it makes it a lot quieter.

i tried that a couple times, with helmet and without using little ear buds, i didnt like it either way at all. i couldnt hear what was going on around me. i like to hear everything. with a helmet i just kind of tuck my chin down it seems to cut the wind a bit.

Well guys, I may have found an answer. I went down to the local Honda dealer and picked the brains of the Accessory salesmen. He found me what is called a CHIN CURTAIN for my HJC helmet. It mounted easily and I will see how well it works when they have my bike ready in a couple weeks. Here is a link to the HJC website so you can see the product I bought.

If the ventilation holes in your lid are howling and you don't need the cooling aspect yet(winter and all) you can take the liner out and fill those air holes with cheap foam earplugs from the inside. This makes it quieter and warmer, and when it finally gets warm again, you can just pull the plugs back out and put them in your ears.

THIS DID NOT HELP IN ANY WAY SHAP OR FORM. LOL At leats the dealer made a sale.
