You're going to want to take it REALLY easy when you finally get to take it out. I recently switched from a cruiser to a sport-standard and the handling it way different. Everything feels exagerated for the first couple hundred miles. The big movements you would make for a little turn would put you into a huge turn on your new bike. And if you listen to the engine to judge your speed... well you'll be in for a surprise 

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
