But back to EFI & carbs: I did read that, if one is going to higher altitudes, carburetors should be adjusted. I don't know if that's required for short-term, or only if the bike is going to live there. And I don't know what altitude counts as high, but it was another reason for me to cross carbs off my list when looking for a new bike.
Adjustments are only for long term use. I've taken carbed bikes from sea level to over 14,000 feet in elevation on trips, no problems.

I don't know... There is a lot of matter for opinion. Just on opinion alone for me.
1) My first car with fuel injection was a 1992 Honda Civic. Since that time the completion of the conversion of any car I can think of had been from carbs to FI.
2) The Auto Industry - although not always known for its intelligence - doesn't have an industry-wide mechanical change without good reason. I think the reasons are:
a) fuel economy
b) reliability
c) emissions
I can't think of a reason why I'd want any street vehicle without it. Not even mentioning the programmability that comes with my B-King - to run in different modes based on computer control. Something you'll never have with carbs.
Of course, computer control and its ability to adapt to circumstances is another good reason to have FI.
