Haven't hit anything on the road. Have had more than a few birds try to kamikaze me though.

I recently bought my bike and now have about 400 miles of riding time. A few days ago I was riding late at night. I was trying to figure out how far away the car behind me was when I ran over something in the road. I think is was a racoon or maybe an opossum. It may have been already dead. The bike felt like I rode over a large bump ... it was very noticable. If I had time to panic I would have. The bike worked great and was very stable. I was going straight. When I got home I looked to see if there was any damage and there was none. But the bike smelled like bacon. Does anyone know of a dead animal that smells like bacon? This is a real puzzle to me. Please help.

Hit an UNMOUNTED 14" car tire comin' around a curve at about 30 mph at night about 15 years ago.... Don't know where the tire came from, but I spotted it at the last second when riding my '81 Goldwing... The car tire WEDGED itself between the motorcycle tire and fender, locking up the wheel and tossing me onto the road. The tire wedged so hard that it broke off the fender mounts on the forks (actually "chunked out" the "ears" on the forks that the fender bolts screwed into)... Took me and some kindly passerby about 10 minutes of combined tugging to UN wedge the tire. Threw the fender in the trunk and boogied on home.... I figure a few more MPH and I may have made the evening news. =(
