i hope youre not too old for the bandit.im 53,got an xjr1200 and planning on travelling to the tt races in the isle of man in 2007.i ride every day no matter what the weather.its my only form of transport.still aim on riding for a long time yey.ignore the stuffed shirts,go out and enjoy.xjrjohn

every time i open the shop door ,and see my cycle i get chills,i feel 25 years younger every time i ride this bike,i enjoy seeing all makes and modles of motorcycle out rideing,

I'm 53 and last year decided to buy myself an SV1000 - not a total balls out sportsbike, but, you know, it goes faster than my wife's shopping trolly. If I'm too old for it, I haven't noticed yet.

I don't have a car. I do about 16,000 miles a year on this bike. It keeps me sane and gives me a lot of fun. Like Firebird says, I get a lot of joy just looking at bikes out on the street. The older you get and the more you get tied down by other people and the stuff inside your own head, the more you need to ride (in my humble opinion).

Age is not a medical condition. Ask yourself what your skills and limitations are and make your judgement on those criteria alone - only you know.

There are plenty of 22, 32, and 42 year olds that I would politely advise not to buy a 1200 cc motrocycle, but that has nothing to do with age.

And there are a fair number of people in my motorcycle club who are our age and ride big machines: gixxers, and busas among them, and they are good riders (well, most of them! )

The only ageing thing in your post is all those Harleys! (Sorry! couldn't resist )

one day back in the mid 80s, i was dirt bikeing i run across a man on a triles dirt bike, he tell me he is 90 years old,then he shows me his drivers lic,i could not belive my eyes, this was true,i had a yamaha yz 490. this man had a triles 250,big supprise ,this 90 year old man could out ride me,i raced dirt bikes for years,now i couldnt keep up with this man,he push me to my limits,this man truly love rideing motorcycles,i will never for get him,

I like that story, Firebird! Back before TMW was hacked, we had a topic where the question was posed, "How Long Are You Going To Ride?", or something to that effect. We basically decided that, as long as you keep your health, there's no reason you should hang up your helmet at any particular age. I said then that I hope there's at least one bike in my estate sale. That's still my wish.
