Still OT: My Sensei wouldn't ever get upset if he saw me posing with proper gear. He might well print the picture & tear apart my form tho.

It's no shame to post part of who are and what you believe. Granted, if you were showing off, that'd be different. Or trying to take on airs or attitudes that either you couldn't back up, or weren't part of the culture you're learning, my Sensei would make me practice with the white belts FOREVER. That always hurts, b/c they do it wrong and land on my head . . . .
I had a very traditional sensei... no competition, no swagger allowed, no belt colors. Everyone is a white belt until you earn your hakama+black belt. And I respect that man and his ideals very much. He ingrained in me a deeper respect for Budo than I imagine someone could have if they were caught up in 'looking cool' playing dress up like a ninja because their favorite anime character looks like that. So I'm saying someone who really understands the culture/way of life, would not have the 'airs or attitudes' to begin with. Sorry about the rant... this sort of thing just really gets to me. Which is the cost of studying this stuff I suppose.

where were we? oh yes... motorcycles:)

oh jeeze another one? Look I know the culture, I take part in different styles but I thought I'd have one bit of fun instead of following the rules every second. Even my masters giggled a bit at it because they know I'm not violent by nature or much of a poser/ show off. If I went around hurting people then yeah they would have my butt. Transporting it back and forth to class isn't showing off either.

Back to the bikes, some people from class said I look better on a naked or standard bike. I wonder if Honda would make a Magna based standard or naked... or did the Magna count as a standard?

For christ's sake let me live my "bloody" life. People say I'm too boring, then I'm a show off, then I'm obnoxious, then I'm selfish, then people say I care too much. What the hell? Seriously didn't the arts teach you to respect people as well?

I swear to god I am this close to snapping nothing I do is ever right for anyone.

I only asked out of curiousity. I did not try to tell you how to live your life. Why do you worry so much about doing things right for everyone else? Do what you want and don't take these types of questions/criticisms so personally. In the end, they're just strangers' words over virtual paper.

Suzuki Gladius. Kawasaki ER-6n. Triumph offers several models of standard types. Most of the European manufacturers do.

Heh, I'm an anime fan, otaku cosplayer whatever. I can't wait until I get my next outfit and pose on my bike.

I'll look like more of a wiener than you, but hey, my kids won't think I was a total lamo boring "O Ring" my entire life.

Rhadam, I've already asked once, nicely, to bring this thread back on topic.

of all the bikes listed, i dont think any of them are really standards...

the tank is too high making it look all hunched over, the tail is too high and the front end too low, requiring 6" risers on the bars...

one of the bikes i looked at had a 'fairing' if thats what you want to call it around the headlight. the headlight was infront of the head tube and the whole thing was BELOW the bars. what good does that fairing do? look at the fairing on the zrx1100/1200. those are at least semi-useful things....

nope i dont see any bike on the market now (or immediate future) that interests me...

Image

and the little fairing on the GPz from the same maker...

Image

and a mid-80s honda...

Image

not that a fairing is necessarily needed. none of these bikes look like stripped down crotches. and thats what i like about them....
