Idk, I rarely do the wave, it just seems kind of played out. If I do wave, it's usually to someone who exhibits the same ideas about riding as I do. I absolutely do not acknowledge people who are being irresponible.

I dunno what Amdonim meant, but I know when I'm over in Pennsy (no helmet law) I generally don't wave to the guys on the blinged-out customs with no helmets, very loud pipes, etc. They never wave anyway, and I'm just doing a completely different kind of riding.

I love getting the head nod.

Do the ladies on this site actual use these when on group rides??

Those are actually standard group riding hand signals that a road captain would use.
I'm sure the last one is not official though.

Wow, that's interesting to know. I wonder how many people actually know what these signals mean or do you do a quick refresher before taking a ride?

Depends on the group. I have been in groups where they have done that, but we get a pre-ride chat first....

Then there have been other groups where the leader just takes off and does not even think about the rest of the group.

At all times though.....a rider must be repsonsible for their own safety....drop back if you can't keep up, or drop out of you don't like the riding.

I have done both. We always make sure everyone knows the destination for the next stop. If you are slower, they will wait at the next stop.
If you deicde to drop out, just be sure to let someone in the group know you're leaving.

Blues, that isn't actually a head nod they're giving you. the legal term is "elevator eyes."

LOL.....on the arm out so long....Try this in STURGIS, your arm would be out for days, you might as well sew a fake arm on your jacket.

Yup I to do the head nod at places like this or when need to focus with both hands on the grip.

As far as Hand signals, the folks I ride with all know them, however we always do refreshers at our meetings for the new folks, and just an FYI a lot of riders tend to point with there feet if there is hazzard on the road, especially right side then you dont have to take your hand off the throttle

....and as far as my riding partner goes we have EXTRA hands signals..

One day, while driving in my car; it was a beautiful sunny day and I wasnt able to ride my bike that day. I drove past a few bikers and found myself giving the wave...in my car! Forgot where I was. Its a force of habit I guess. But I felt like a real doofus!!!
