I wear earplugs with a full face helmet.

Earplugs work just as well wearing a fullface, 3/4, open or no lid at.
I wear them with my fullface. The difference is noticeable.

Re: Got confirmation of the need to wear earplugs, yesterday
i bought some nice earbud headphones with the "noise isolation" thing so they work kinda like earplugs but i can also listen to music. use them with a full face and it works just fine. a bit of trial and error involved with figuring out how to get them to stay on right while i donned the helmet, but that ended up being easy enough.

I also use a set of those noise canceling earbuds and I love 'em. They work almost as well as regular earplugs at keeping wind noise out, plus I can listen to tunes without having to blast the volume.

I use the silicone stuff that goes on the outside of the ear. They're not too bad. I've had trouble getting the regular ear plugs in and feeling comfortable, but these are fine(probably because they don't actually go into the ear). They don't get stuck to the helmet, but they do get dirty very quickly. I think the instructions say to switch every 6 times you use it or so. The decibel level isn't as high as the regular ear plugs, but I definitely feel better with them in than without(unless I'm only going around town at under 35 mph - then it feels fine either way).Brackstone wrote:Have you or anyone else ever used the silicone stuff? They go on the outside of your ear and are sort of sticky? I just used those this weekend when I went to a club and it seemed to dampen the sound well enough. I just hope they wouldn't stick to the inside of my helmet.sunshine229 wrote:That's too bad! But I do find that wearing a full face helmet is quite good even without earplugs. I only wear earplugs when riding on the highway because in town I'm not bothered by the noise.Brackstone wrote:I wish I could wear earplugs but I have a problem with wax. Many people in my family have tubes surgically installed in their ears just to avoid the buildup problem. If I wear earplugs all that happens is I get an ear infection eventually :\

Re: Got confirmation of the need to wear earplugs, yesterday
My confirmation came after leaving a concert the other night (Muse and the Silver Sun Pickups). My ears were still ringing in the morning
Awesome concert though
As for riding, I'll always wear them. Once you start you'll never go back.

I'm with you on that one high side. I find that with my lid that I wear, using the earplugs not only keeps the wind and noise to a dull roar, it keeps the dirt from going deep into your ear. I have forgotten them at times, and I tell you there is enough dirt in them to plant potatoes.High_Side wrote: As for riding, I'll always wear them. Once you start you'll never go back.

I keep trying to Think...but nothing hAppens

still recovering - back to crutches, then walking with a stick, then running - then hopefully riding again!
