Mesh all the way in summer. Leather and textile in Fall/Winter. Not the best protection but I'm not sitting in my own personal sauna either.

It's going to be in the high 90's today... so my plan is ride late in the day. I get extra bugs...I like bugs .... If I had some way to carry the jacket I might carry it during the heat of the day; but that's probably not a smart thing to do. Also I have no protection for my legs and I need something. Suggestions welcomed ... thoughts on jeans reinforced with kevlar?
One positive point about my jacket is the manufacture claims it has 1.4 to 1.6 mil thick leather in the shoulders. It is very heavy and stiff. I open it up about to mid chest for ventilation and it doesn't puff up...I like it.

Those draggin jeans are quite nice and I'm guessing other riding jeans are kevlar based so they should be good as well. Some have pockets for CE approved armor which is best. I had a pair of draggin jeans but I didn't wear them as much so I sold it.

I always wear my MotoGP styled pants underneath some jeans or SWAT issue cargo pants that way I can have great protection and still be able to walk around casually and not look like a power ranger... except today will be 90º F as well so I'm gonna have to wear that Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 jacket so I'll look like a power ranger still. I actually don't get very hot in the leg area and I feel so much better with CE padding around my knee and shins.

I used to have a pair of gloves with metal rivets along the palms to prevent wearing through the leather in a crash. Nice idea, but one day I got the chance to test it. I had about 30 little burns in each palm after I got up. They were small, but 3rd degree and hurt like hell for way too long. I'll stay away from the steel armour from now on.......

I keep checking out their website for the draggin jeans.... I just don't know. Love the video of the guy getting dragged behind the pickup truck. I want that kind of protection; however, I need impact protection as well.

To the OT - I'm liking my leather jacket even in the heat. I think it is actually cooler than my Olympia textile jacket. Wish I could afford one of those fancy single piece suits.

When it gets hotter I move from clothes underneath protective garmets to underware and clothes in my cortech bag. Just have to remember when I get to the office not to start unzipping my jacket.

After showing up at work the past 2 days with my nice dress shirt soaked through with sweat I finally broke down and bought a full on mesh jacket, as an added bonus I got the high viz yellow color so I look like a giant highlighter rolling down the highway

My vented textile jacket wasn't cutting it in the 90 F humid Virginia summer. Did I mention it's humid... YUCK!!
