I cheated and read all the comments before putting myself down as like it. I like the idea of a smaller capable bike, but it definitely needs to be designed from the ground up smaller. This reminds me of the FZ8 - which is only a little lighter and less expensive than the FZ1. A smaller displacement should mean a bike with very different riding characteristics - easier for one - for newbs.
