I've also found that the seating position on a standard (like the bandit) is more accomodating for a wider range of riders.

I'm 6'2" and have a fair amount of kgs under my rather strained belt! The TDM is great for my height and size - about the only bike I've not felt ridiculous on. (even my beloved Vmax looked rather puny under me)

It's definately a factor I consider but I've ridden everything from a 50cc to 1200cc+ bikes and they've all managed to get me moving (at least for a little while;) )

Update: my wife decided she missed riding with me, (she does not like the back seat on the FJR) so she put a bid on a Yamaha Royalstar Midnight Venture on E-Bay. She won the auction, and we flew to Birmingham to ride it home. That was fun. A great 600 mile adventure. 2weeks later we traded it in on another Gold Wing. We still own the FJR, also, but now I get some more quality time in the saddle with my wife.

I've had "Bear on a Bicycle" tossed my way when I had my Suzuki GS500...

This is me on the bike...I'm 5'11 & at the time of the pic weighed in at 275lbs...

ImageImage

So I bought my new bike that is about an inch taller to the seat, but much more substantial of a bike...I don't have a pic of me on the bike, so this is the closest I have...me next to the bike...at the time of the pic I weighed in at 265lbs...

Image

But I do have a pic of me on a Ninja 1000, it was a pretty comfy bike...down to 245lbs in the pic...

Image

And a Concours 14ABS...taken the same day...

Image

I really liked the Victory though...but the pic is bad...

Image

I sat on a bunch of bikes that day...if you would like to see, here's a link to my pics...I'm 5'11, so if you are similar height you can get an idea of how you may fit on a bike.

Madjak's 2012 Bike Show Pics

What year? I love my Venture, just wish it had the new VMax engine in it... :o)

The Venture was a 2005. What a beautiful machine! I thought it had just enough power, but I prefer a stiffer suspension. It just seemed "floaty", perhaps mushy in the corners.

The rear shock probably needed some air...

I'm at 193lbs on my ninja 650, at 5'10. Dropped 52 lbs over the past 10 months so while I still look a bit large on it, it's not as bad as it would have looked. I felt very cramped on the nighthawk 250 at the motorcycle school
