More Umph: I have heard tell that some have removed the catalytic converter (and replaced it with a pipe) to get the DN-01 to breathe better. Don't know IF that would fly here in the States because it's "illegal" to modify the exhaust to that extent. People who have done such a thing, say that it does help and does NOT require changing anything else, i.e. computer program, injections, etc.
Cruise Control: I believe that Kuryakyn has a device that they use to "lock" the throttle by means of replacing the end cap of the handlebar.
Just some thoughts, I hope they help.

Thx. I know on GM products if you remove the cat(s) you have to have a cat simulator and/or tune that out so it doesn't set codes, which could void the warranty. It would be nice to have an affordable, removable hand held tuner that could up the performance of these and remove the tune upgraded if needed.
I've looked at various cc devices with some just locking the throttle and being fairly inexpensive. I like the $150 version (forgot the brand name) but they say they don't make one for the dn-01 even though there is a you tube video with one installed on a dn-01. I've tried to find what model they used but no luck yet.

I know that the DN-01 IS manufactured without the cat and IS available, just NOT here in the States because of our "environmental friendly" regulations. On the DN-01 that I saw, on the Internet, the rider/owner removed the cat BUT retained the oxygen sensor to prevent any problems.
I also know that Japan has numerous "add-ons" for the DN-01 that are not available, again, here in the States, like cruise control, specifically "made" for the DN-01. It would not surprise me that the cc device you saw came from Japan. Now trying to get THAT cc would be interesting to say the least.
Keep me informed as to your progress.

It was the "breakaway" cruise control I saw and comes highly recommended. There are several models, just not one specifically made for the dn-01 and due to liability issues they would not even give me a idea which one to try.
I may register the bike where I used to live that has no emission test and try removing the huge cat and see if that helps. Just 5-6hp would probably make a big dif on passing.

It only makes sense that you would gain your needed hp by removing the cat. IF you do remove it, please let me know the results. You may want to dyno the DN-01 to see if you can dial in any additional hp, mpg and performance benefits.

Individually, I think that provided that you are on two tires with a engine, even an anemic engine unit and you are experiencing yourself, your drive and your device then go for it, and bugger any snobs or eliteist.
