I was gonna stay outta this one, but I'm gonna chime in anyway with my observations:
This is one of the most
under-moderated sites I have ever been to. For the most part, the mods allow debate, even
heated debate, without getting in a tizzy. My demeanor on this site is no different than it has been on other sites, and I have been banned from two of them and PM'd left and right on another. This forum is
THE BEST forum I have ever participated in and for once I don't feel like so much of an outsider. Even when things have gotten outta hand in some threads, I was treated with respect like the adult that I am, rather than being "scolded" by someone with a power hard-on.
I say BRAVO, TMW!

That's the reason people keep coming back. It's like being in a family, instead of a wrestling ring.

i wasnt complaining bout this site obviously i like it well enough. i jut dont like forum mods or irc ops or any other form of authority on line. i also thought it was funny that the mod said they dont censor, when thats why they are here. however you want to look at it the mods are censors. i know they dont go post to post rewording thats not the only way to censor things. yes this site is more laid back than some, but if a debate Does get heated why is there a need to step in? if two people want to post totally off topic why is there a need to stop it? at what point is it too much control from mods(on any forum)? to me its just too much control over people posting. obviously if people are posting off topic they Want that topic discussed with the people in That forum/thread why try to make them go off to another forum/thread away from where it got started? iron fist mods that think a topic has to be very specific in the right thread/forum drive me insane is all.
,again too much control = 1984

Bull. This site is orginized to be useful to anyone who joins at any time. If you are new to this site it is organized so you can find things. If you allow everyone to post whatever they want where ever they want it would make the site messy and hard to use. This site attempts to be the best resourse for ALL motorcyclist worldwide. And we do a damn good job.
And iwnannadie, you are a good poster and have had some good points, but this 1984 bologna is just you over-reacting. You are part of this family too and as said earlier name one case where you were treated unfair. I bet you can't name one.

i dont mean post anything in any forum, but lets say you and i are talking about changing oil in the troubleshooting forum or whatever after a few posts the topic changes to what resturants you like to eat at. i dont think that sort of off topic posting should be stopped is all(and it is most places).
i guess my rant was more about other forums than here. but the mods should still admit they are there to censor. its a slippery slop to start censoring one thing it will lead to more censoring eventually based on the opinion of the mod at the moment.

I don't follow you here, Dude. Off topic in a thread? How many threads are there here that AREN'T off topic by about 4 posts in? I'm probably the worst for taking them off topic most of the time.

What topic has been censored? We yak about anything and everything pretty much at will from what I can see. Did I miss (another)something?
Personally, I will only step in and say something when the 'discussion' has evolved into...'yeah, well your stupid and I'm not'...'yeah, well your gay and your Mom is ugly'- kinda intellectual jousting. So basically, make any point you want, but treat the people here with a little common courtesy and respect while you do it. I think most of us mods are the same on that point.
I for one tend to forget I'm supposed to be moderating here, I just read and post like anyone else until I read a heated flame war someplace. Then I usually just sit back and watch it develop, and most of the time, the participants work it out themselves.
Weak mind or not, I like to swear. Been practicing it all my life and I got it down pretty good. IMHO, people who feel 'above' swearing only say that cause they are so shitty at it.

I think this thread has missed the boat on the original post...
Why are words like c r a p and p u s s y censored??? I have a basement full of c r a p! Now
what in the world is wrong with that????
Main Entry: 4 cr ap
Function: intransitive verb
Inflected Form(s): crap·ped; crap·ping
1 : to throw a cr ap
2 : to throw a seven while trying to make a point -- usually used with out
3 : NONSENSE, RUBBISH; also : STUFF
4 : a) vulgar : EXCREMENT
b) vulgar : the act of defecating
As blues put it;
Quit p u s s yfooting around.
Main Entry: 1pus sy
Pronunciation: 'pu-sE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural puss·ies
Etymology: 1puss
1 : CAT
2 : a catkin of the pus sy willow
3 : 1 vulgar : VULVA
Main Entry: 3pus·sy
Pronunciation: 'p&-sE
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): pus·si·er; -est
: full of or resembling pus
Sure, a word written in one context can be vulgar, but do we now say that every other context
for that word is also vulgar? I know it's software, but just how far is the PC crowd going to push us.
Gee, push, now there's a word that offends me, doesn't that mean to sell drugs???
I can call someone a cigarette or cigarette or even a dick or prick, but I can't call them an a s s because
being stuborn like a mule is offensive??? Personally, because of all the friends I work with
and went to school with that are gay, I find the alternate "F" word very offensive, and the
regular "F" word not offensive at all.
