Damn straight I was mi'lady, but with practise comes confidence and with confidence you lose the fear and ride better.

Think of it this way, you pay whatever your national equivilant of roadtax is too so you have every right to be on the road.

If you are worried about being seen by other traffic may I suggest you wear a high visibility vest, ride with your main lights on and when you are purchasing your next helmet look at lids in bright colours or maybe even a white one?

Oh and I just remembered what four was. The action of traffic tends to push debries to the gutters of the road, so by riding in the middle of the lane you can avoid it, making your ride safer.

(Roy would be so proud, I'm sure he thought I wasnt listening!)

Hi Coolgranny,

Image

My daughter wanted the CBR 125 Honda. What put me off that bike for her is that it is so skinny and has no visibility especially at night. So we comprimised on this scoot. It is very stable, does 90kph, loads of carry room undeer the seat, has a topbox and a load rating of 150 kilos so even two adults can ride it. this does not get blown about like a moped and let me tell you this. My daughter will ride in the middle of the road, she has paid her road tax and the guy behind better go round her like he would any other car. Act like prey, you will be preyed upon, act like a predator, they give you a wide berth.

Hey Sapaul...I love that scooter! What kind is it? I want to look up the specs on the net...weight etc. I see it has a stand but does it also have a kick stand? My moped weighs 150 lbs and I find it hard enough to pull it up on the dual stand...no kick stand. I think a scooter would be better for me than a MC since it's got an auto tranny. Your daughter rides in her own lane but I bet she also does the speed limit. I don't...yet. I would need an m2 licence if I bought a scotter or a motorcycle.

Thanks! She is a lucky girl!!

This is one of the Korean imports that we are flooded with at this time. I have noticed that the engines and major parts are all the same, only the body work differs from one label to the other. This scoot is a Kazuma but there are also Jonway and Lingui very similar. Note on the scoot the topbox and the nerf bars. We paid R8500.00 converted that is about 1250 dollars. Gets 35kms to the litre, top speed about 90kph. Very stable and easier to ride than a moped. Note also the foot brake for the rear, more natural for car drivers. It is a four stroke and needs to build up to speed as opposed to the 2 stroke which kicks in the power straight away, hence your previous problem. reading your posts I could highly recomend this type of bike. " I steal it when I can". Yes it has a kick stand and centre stand, also electric start and kick start in case of flat battery and it lights up in the dark like a christmas tree, it even has lights on the handle bar ends.
