The boy done pissed a mod off, he's done it now. He's pissed his bike hasn't been updated since 1986.
I chose 1986 over 1957...

If you love it, ride it. I love my bike, get over it. If I wanted to go in debt $9,000 as a full-time student, I would have. I wanted a cheap, reliable, fun bike i could pay off in under 12 months. The Ninja was my only choice, in that respect...but a new ZX-6 or 600RR would have been nice.
I believe in technology. I believe in DOHC, multi-valve cylinder heads, liquid-cooling, astronomical RPM, more than five gears, light weight, chain drive, and all at a reasonable price.

I believe in sportbikes.

The thing about bashing a Harley is that you show how little you know by doing so. I will never own a Harley, but I will likely not ever own a cruiser. That said, Harley makes a good quality bike now, and has been doing so since the employees bought the company back from AMF.

AMF made leaky, poorly running bikes and tarnished HD forever. It is all anyone who is not a fan of HD can seem to remember. Before I learned about the history of the company, I use to say the same thing. But Harley for many years, even recently, produced the bike that held the land speed record. The latest EVO engine is a good quality V, and the next generation (on the Rod engine) is even better (engineered in Germany).

Fact is HD has become a world class company, which should make them proud, but instead they try to still hide behind the 'Merican Compny thing. They like everyone else realized that "buy American" will kill your possiblity of profits. But they are not just a motorbike company anyway. They are master of mechandise and image. This makes a lot of people jealous.

And you may not like the way the Ulyseses (by Buell) looks, but I think it is a sure sign the Buell is far from being simply a sportsbike built around a crappy engine.

I rode a Harley in Nevada, and it was my first time ever. Last time too, most likely. But I think that bike was strong, ran great, brakes worked well, and was as good as any other cruiser I ever rode. If I was in the cruiser market, I think it would be a shame to leave the Harley out of your choices. (I will admit though, even trying to be a diplomat, the damn things are priced about 25% too much IMHO).

No slam on the Buell intended. When I said crappy engine, I was thinking of these folks that feel they need to slam on the HD.

The bike was a Herritage Soft tail. It had the windshield and softbags. The worst thing was the oil tank cap which burned my inner thigh at every stop light. AND since I'm more of sporty rider I was scraping the floor boards a bit more than I was comforatable with - so I need to learn to cruise - if you know what I mean.

Alright guys - step away from the keyboard - we have your ego surrounded.

Honestly, if you two need to fight it out, take it to e-mail or personal messages please. And I'm not pointing a finger at bikeguy or schoolbus here - just that both of you are no longer having a friendly chat that is helpful to others in the motorcycle community. I hope you understand. Thanks.
