Hey, I'm in the same boat...sorta, although my girlfriend has a good head on her shoulders. She wants a YZF-R6 (the new 2006 one) or R1 more than anything but she grew up around bikes and knows she should take 2 or 3 years on a learner bike before she steps it up. Heck, she's probably saved me from killing myself, as I want a GSX-R600 myself. She pretty much insisted that I get professional training first and then get a learner bike. Yeah, I'd probably be roadkill right now if it weren't for her.

wow. i have been made a sticky. thats never happened before. *re-reads thread* yea, i can see it now. this question answers many NOOB questions i had when i first entered the forum... all in one fell swoop. might make it so you dont have to answer 1 million "first bike help" topics.
i still feel cool for being made into a sticky

Congrats on the sticky-ism. Yeah, this will help alot of new people (like myself) who want to buy the baddest bike on the planet for their learner.
This may even keep a few alive to buy that bike someday!

I'll drink to that as long as it's tea, cause if my goose caught me drinking and driving she would rip out my electronic management system and shove it up my arse. This of course being a small example of how she influences my time on the bike.

an update on sythia, shes going to be getting the same bike that i want to get, a gs500f... the only problem is she doesnt have any other alternatives in case she doesnt like the feel of the gs. *shrugs* ether way, i think that her dad is going to want to use it more than she will. i see many unprevoked 'groundings' in the future where he 'confiscates' the bike
he told me hes looking into taking the riders course as well, so maybe since he called the gs "a cheap bike" he might buy one as well... though how anyone can spend $10,000.00 and hardly blink i will NEVER know. plus he wants accesories.
well, he was prepaired to shell out cash for a gixer 1000, so whatever.

Im glad to hear things are working out. Im sure your friend will see that the gs500 will be plenty of fun.
Glad to hear her Dad is going to do it the right way too, killed two birds with one stone.
