Well the conditions looked pretty good, but there were a LOT of rough patches. I put easily a dozen new scratches into my venerable old skis. Good excuse to get new ones.

There was one really funny part, we were up at the top of angel express and working our way over to the double blacks when I noticed a big patch of what was basically gravel mixed in with the snow. I went around and saw a girl on a snowboard setting up to go right through it. I yelled and pointed, "watch out for that patch of rocks." She looked at me and ignored me, then went right over it, all I heard was a horrendous scraping noise and she did a faceplant. Fortunately she planted into snow and not rocks.

She bounced back up and yelled to her friend the exact same warning, with exactly the same result. She went right over the rocks and duffed it. Silly snowboarders. Mountains are for skiers :D

I had to laugh though, I mean two wrecked boards, that could have easily been avoided if they were paying attention.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Even here on the "wet" coast, we got snow early this year. The local mountains are all open for skiing.

There was another fresh dump of snow on them yesterday, while all we got in town was some rain.

When are you moving to the coast BuzZz?

I'm inside in my small room with my computer going. It has a 500watt power supply, which translates into, I'm in a t-shirt and shorts it's so hot in here. I'm about the crack the window actually.

Poor BuzZz, so cold.

Poor me, sweating away.

But.......

Yesterday it was -20something with 45 mph winds so cold you had to squat to whiz, today it was +1 and sunny...... tomorrow it's sposed to be +6 and I don't work 8)

Now if someone would remove the snow from the streets, I'd go for a ride...... :?

I finally gave up and actually garaged it. It's put away and covered over now. I'm back to taking the bus/borrowing my parents car. I hate driving the car, especially in the snow... it was never a problem before, but now I just feel fat, heavy, and slippery.

Winter sucks for those of us who cant ski or board well enough to justify actually doing it.

At least we get the odd 50 degree day so you can go riding occasionally in the winter here.
