Just a small point. If you scrub in tyres the old fashioned way - going for a long ride (about 100 miles) and gradually leaning the bike further- do it in the dry. Trying to scrub in tyres in the wet: a) takes a lot longer/doesn't work at all, b) is a lot more scary.
I had to buy a new rear tyre while I was on an extended holiday in France. It was a very wet summer down in the South-East. That was one hell of an interesting few days.
