It looks like she's really struggling to press that button. My first guess was she was twisting the throttle and yelling "vroooooom"
So why does it need foldin mirrors? Aside from adding a great option for dealers to fix when it breaks

It's for when you cross bridges. As a kid we always said hold your ears so they won't hit the side of the bridge.
