two arms, two legs, two kidneys, two lungs. One head. Buy a good helmet, but once again, that is MHO. Why skimp out on a helmet when you spent a chunk of change on a bike. You can replace the bike and live without a few of your own componets.

After you've squeezed about 4000 heads into a helmet the padding is going to be a little worn down/squished.

We had a discussion on this at one of our club nights and we were told that different helmets were made to fit different head shapes. Some heads are shaped like oranges, other like pears and others like Aliens head, the one with the bump in the back. (Anyone ever seen Thiery Henry's head). So different shaped heads will have differing pressure points on the helmets. When the Goose and I got the K1200S we found that our Shark 500's were being pressed right up to our noses when we got some speed going, we went to get Shoei's and came away with Arai's because the Shoe's fit really badly. Even then we got 2 different helmets, me the Astro R and the Goose got the Condor

I wish people would stop perpetuating this myth. While a Shoei or Arai might be more expensive, that does not mean you have a better helmet. The best helmet you can possibly buy is the one that fits you. That is the best and safest helmet you could ever buy.

If you happen to get a more expensive helmet you are paying for: lighter construction, better venting, or more extravagent graphics.

That's the truth - some of the best performing helmets in Motorcyclists' safety tests were the $100 models - if you want to spend $500US on a motorcycle helmet, do it because you like the fit or the graphics - don't do it because of the safety advantage - there is none.

What store? Can't try it online cause well, we haven't invented teleportation yet.

Maybe this is just a regional problem cause the dealerships around my area ARE the stores. There's no one gear store dedicated solely to gear around here.
