Chain drive, you have a small sprocket in the front driving a big one in the back. If you make the one in the front bigger, or the one in the back smaller then you'll have a higher top speed but less acceleration, do the opposite and you get the opposite result.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

oh ok, nevermind that, i'd rather have higher acceleration.

i could always use acceleration unlike top speed. :D

That also makes you more likely to wheelie, it's funny how stuff like that works.

if you went much taller on the gearing with your Gixxer 1k it would probably break 200mph.

The 186mph top speed is limted by the gearing.

All it takes to get a busa over 200 is a tad taller gearing, and your gixxer has as much power as a busa.

Most guys go for shorter gearing to increase acceleration, but it makes the bike more likely to wheelie

then there are those rear sprockets that are almost as big as the back tire that are oh so popular with the stunta boyz

drop a tooth up front and go plus 3 in back. THEN nail the throttle. :twisted:
THEN you'll have some serious acceleration.

Ahh, yes..How to safely break the sound barrier :twisted:
There are too many variables to do any of this stuff safely. Just be aware of your surroundings and respect your machine and you'll have the time of your life. :laughing:
Other wise know as OJT (on the job training) or learning you and your bikes limitations. 8)
