They aren't written for average riders, they can't come close to pushing any of the bikes to their performance limits (other than on a long, long straightaway, which anyone can do). So who does that leave? lol
:stupid: ....not that you are stupid, but you I agree with you so you should be worried...
Sportbikes do get better all of the time, and it is easy to tell the improvements by riding a brand-new one and a 10 year old one (in good condition) back to back. The suspension and the handling differences make you wonder how you could ever ride a hack like that 10 year old one. In any recent model year of litre-bikes however, the differences are so subtle and the capabilities are so far out of reach for 99% of the riders out there that argueing over magazine performace results is laughable. Buy whatever turns your crank and you will be happy for longer....

Jeeze, if you're going to insult him, at least do it with good spelling and grammar. Your stuff is painful to read.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I'll help you out Sev -

VermilionX

You simply don't understand.

Having a hypersport and not acquiring the skills required to operate said machine is not cool, dude.

As a matter of fact it is massively ridiculous.

Also, riding around the street with no skills on a hypersport in full race leathers is one step away from insanity.

But hey, if you think you're the goods, then that's all the matters, right?

well, i went back and actually read the long post that spawned this one, and then this one. I donno i think this is all kinda stupid. VX posted an article that said his bike was uber. He though it was cool cause its his bike and its nice to hear that something you own in top notch. People bagged on him cause it was a long post and he was supposdly promoting how cool his bike, his gear and his abilitys are. Well after reading it, it talks only about how the bike does against others. He never said man id rip all you fools up on the track, never said my gear is more bitchin than all yours. So i think the claims made against him in that sense were unjust. As he said, the article was there to inform people that the gixxer is still uber over these bikes without any changes from last year. Weather or not you think that its biased isnt the point. It was not an article he wrote, he simply thought that it would do well here as it was a semi interesting bit of motorcycle noise. If you thought its wrong to say your bike is the best without riding the others it was compared to, well have you ridden all the other bikes that 'compete' with your bike? Very few people have ridden all the bikes in the class that they buy in. So its unfair to call VX out for not having ridden the other bikes. If you thought it was obnoxius because it was too long, then you could have seen that 1 min into reading it and quit. So final thought, this is all stupid, stop giving him crap for being focused on how awesome he is, cause it doesnt seem like thats the case.

"poo poo", for being hungover like hell and damn tired this came out ok. HOpe i didndt "pee" too many people off, jsut postin what i think :twocents:

I bought my motorcycle based on several reviews. As JWF mentioned, it's nearly impossible to test them all yourself, especially if you live in an area like mine that offers NO test rides whatsoever. In a lot of cases, the reviews don't even declare one bike a complete winner because they all have compromises. You could pick a "loser" simply because what the reviewers thought were faults are actually advantages in your eyes. I didn't read the exhaustingly long article Vermi posted, mostly because I couldn't care less about crotch rockets (they all look the same to me...like crappy Tupperware), but I imagine his intentions were simply to post an article that shed good light on his machine. As far as his skills are concerned, he's pretty open and honest about being chicken-"poo poo" to take turns or lean too much, so I doubt he's bragging too much about his abilities this early in the game.

Bottom line is, nobody likes it when someone sings the praises of their own bike. It's not surprising, really, because humility is a virtue, and self-praise is a real turn-off. I personally think my bike is the bees-knees in the world of Cruiserdom, but I think you'll find that I give other bikes equal praise when praise is due. Just because Vermi posts favorable articles about his bike doesn't mean he's passing judgement on yours. We all know Vermi is really hung-up on this boy-racer image he's trying to portray, and he's got a lot of folks hot under the collar for jumping on a liter bike right outta the starting gate.

I was ragging on the posting of a long "cut and paste". I prefer folks would sumarize.

So, no beef with what VermilionX speaking for myself. I just think a person could do the same thing without printing the whole thing, and I don't think anyone else needed to reply with the quote function. That was much worse than what Verm did.

Everyone for the most part has ownership pride, and it does feel good to see your choice up in lights. No knock for that, but think about he readers.

Really - let's be honest. Like one out of twenty of us even read the thing anyway. It really would have gotten more attention if he sumarized what he was trying to express by posting that huge article. I'm sure all of you can see that point.

Full race leathers insane? Uncomfortable maybe. Safe? Yes.

I think full race leathers any time is cool. I was quoting someone else. I think full racing leathers might look silly, but I don't think riding should be about impressing people.

I read it. There's one.

I think it would have been satisfactory to just link the review.. but I read it all the same. I like to read as many reviews as I can, about all different types of bikes, just for fun and to stay on top of the info ladder! heh.

If a post is too long for you, you can always just stop reading it, or ignore it.. That is the beauty of the internet.. you don't have to sit there and listen to someone if you don't want to. Just hit the back button.
