Cool ride

I rode with an open face Shoei helmet for years. Nice helmet with flow through ventilation that closes off in winter. Worked well.
I now ride with a Shoei half helmet. Has the same flow through ventilation but runs much cooler, as it is a half helmet. Comes with a zip on collar for the winter ride. Cost about $150.

I used an old school FM helmet for a season. The venting on that was terrible - I rode with the visor cracked or completely open all the time.
That said the FM is distinctly a budget helmet and I lived with it until I slid down the road on my face. The FM was about £30 when new.

I also had an MDC (another arm of APV apparently) 'tourer' lift face for ages... far longer than the helmet is recommended for use. All right when I was moving but needed to be cracked open at long lights. In the end the visor was so scratched I rode with it open all the time. For £15 (End of line bargain at a bike show) I can't complain.

I now have a 'Nitro racing' N600-V full face unit. So far its been very good. Comfortable fit and the venting really does work. Sat at lights I can have the visor all the way down. The only time it fogs is if I make an effort to blow upwards onto the visor. The Nitro set me back a massive £40 in a sale, however not only does it good venting but it is also fibreglass so it is good for 5 years. I've seen the same helmet available for £70-£90. I am very happy with it, just wish the face lifted.

All of my helmets have met the British Motorcycle Sport standards of safety making them legal in this Country.

hjc cl-14, has two chin vents and two forehead vents, one mouth vent that throws the air over the inside of the visor, probably pretty typical... I kinda wish it had more.... Unlike Buzz, I dont breath well above 80degrees. about 90 and I have fainted before. definately built for colder weather (-20 is just fine with me) so I have the vents completely open even when its 30-40 degreees out. I could use a big ol' air scoop up there to swirl air all over my head, that would be beautiful

Since I ride with a half helmet or a beanie I have absolutely no ventilation problems........................
Well except for the top of my head which does not get any air until I take the dreadful helmet off...........
