Sev,

I love your blog! I am looking at a 599 as a potential purchase and have a few quick questions if you dont mind. I'd be moving up from our 250 marauder, so it's a big jump, i know.
I'm in edmonton too, and am wondering where you got your bike? Did you find they went down from msrp, or is there no bargaining when it comes to bikes (like cars).
What did you pay for yours?
From a previous entry on your blog you said they only made 04 and now 06 models, is that right? So if I want used, i'm stuck with only 04's (not fond of the yellow, no offense).

thanks!

Sev will answer most of your questions, but let me field this one.

You can ABSOLUTLEY haggle the price of your bike. If the salesman tells you that you can't, walk away. At the VERY least, make sure they knock off the Freight and Shipping. That's the VERY least. MSRP is for suckers.

over here in california... any OTD price that is near the MSRP is a good deal, especially if you want to buy a popular bike.

it's all about supply and demand.

i dunno what's the demand on the 599 over there but if it's not high then you can haggle them more.

Then stop being a douche and buy out of state where the demand is lower. It's called the global market place for a reason.

Californians can't buy out of state. It's called "protecting our environment" and it means we get special models that are cleaner burning and naturally biodegradable... and if we buy a non-California model (in other words out of state) we must put 8000 miles on it before we can register it in California.

Mandy I sent you a PM

The time is rolling past. We've got several pics to post today.

Image

Here's a pic where I lashed my camera to the brake resevior with the careful use of three interconnected zip ties. God bless zipties, is there anything they can't do?? Then through some freak of nature managed to manipulate the controls with my clutch hand while in a corner and steering. It seems simple until you realise you cannot look through the LCD and you cannot see the on light on the top meaning you may or may not have turned on the camera before you pressed the picture button.

Added to the fact that the camera is hard mounted (technically) to the handlebars and I'm currently revving the living "fudge" out of that little I-4 and you end up with some odd pics, but this is one of my favs of that bunch.

This one's been posted before so I like it. "fudge" off! Malice thinks I look like a powerranger... I think two things (1: look at verm 2: he looks soooooo much worse)

As always Malice's take on things can be found here.
