Sometimes I take the negative in to a lab to get an 11 x 14....
I will however, look into what laser printers can do...I had never given any thought to new printers until now.
These days most of my photos are on CD's or in my computer.
Just to give a simple comparison, the toner in my laser printer costs $60 and lasts for around 15,000 pages.
By comparison, your typical inkjet cartridge costs $30 and lasts for about 1,000 pages.
The inexpensive ones are black and white only, though.

Wow...if you only want to print documents, the difference is significant. I guess I will be looking around and seeing what different options are out there.
Thanks for the tip.

Cordless or wireless mouse and keyboard

Is it just me or are the wireless keyboards and mice crap?
I thought it would be so nice to have no wires getting in the way, but the signals are poor.
Yes, the batteries are good. And the receiver is only about 6 inches away from the mouse.
Is there a trick to having a reliably good signal?
For example....when I am working in photoshop it sometimes appears that what I edited did not do anything so when I do it again, it then does double because the signal was too slow...so then I end up back stepping to correct the edit.
Sometimes the keys don't type properly and sometimes the mouse doesn't go where I want it to go without hassle.
My system came with a wireless setup and it was so bad that I went out and purchased a new wireless setup. It's a bit better than the original, but still not as good as my old wired in one I had on the old system.
Anybody else have wireless problems?

I always went down the route of wired keyboard, but wireless mouse. Forked out a decent amount a long time ago for a proper Logitech (6-7 years I think now), and still use it now. Never had any communications issues, works quite happily at 20 cm from the receiver or 3 meters.
Only thing I do now, is to save battery life (it was before they added chargers to the wireless mice) When I don't use it I put it on a white sheet of paper, which is more reflective, so it uses less power looking for movement.

Really depends on the specific device.
The higher-end Logitech wireless stuff is especially excellent, even good enough for gaming.
The cheaper wireless stuff does have issues.
I'm still all-wired because I can't bring myself to shell out $60+ for a nice mouse.

Thanks guys. I had spent about $90. for a logitech keyboard and mouse and took it back for a microsoft keyboard and mouse. It works a bit better than the logitech, but not as well as I think it should.
I will look around at some others and see what else is out there.

I still use wired gadjets.
As for the gaming peripherals.... I'm not precise enough to take much advantage of a high DPI device.
Sorry Blues, in this one i have no advice at all.

Hey Blues, sorry I'm a little late, but I've got a Logitech system that works really well for me, had it since Christmas day the year before last, and only been through two sets of batteries. Wireless keyboard/mouse combo, works really well, even from a distance. I know they still sell it, and it sells now for about $75? So about 300 Canadian...

Anyway, good luck!

The laugh is on you.
The dollars are almost at par at the moment.
Perhaps the first logitech system I bought was just a defective set.....I'll look into it again.
Thanks.
