Leaving pranks sure have gone down hill...

We stole lots of roadsigns/traffic cones/barriers (a few here and there leaving nothing dangerous on the real roads) Diverted all the cars to park on the school field instead. + wrapped rather a lot of cling film around one of the buildings. (Need someone in industrial catering supplies to get that amount on a tiny budget) Pretty much harmless fun, but noticable harmless fun

When I was in high school, we stole a very large "For rent" sign from the front of an office building and planted it, with concrete, in the middle of the "drop off/pick up" circle in front of the school.

There's also the difference in attitudes from teachers/administrators and cops.

When you guys were kids in high school, pranks were expected, laughed at, and if you got caught you had to clean them up yourself.

My junior year, a bunch of guys released something like 5,000 golf balls down a side stairwell in my school. They were caught. Instead of having to clean it up and maybe getting a phone call to their parents, they were arrested, put in jail for a day, and charged with something along the lines of aggravated destruction of public property. Keep in mind that the school's stairs are made of granite. They've lasted 50 years of kids running up and down them, and only have slight indentations in them. Needless to say, the golf balls didn't hurt it at all.

Also, the cops now patrol around high schools during the last three weeks of the year where I'm from. You can't go near a school without seeing at least one cop patrolling all night long.

So yeah, the pranks have gotten lame, I'll be the first to admit that, but the old geezers that had the good pranks have now gotten to the positions where they can create laws to stop others from having their same fun.

EDIT: I actually didn't have a senior prank. We tried to set off alarm clocks in lockers all down senior hall, but the admins heard about it, went through every locker, and whenever they found an alarm clock, they made sure that the person's diploma was in jeopardy...

First of all virus == self replication == not under your control once you release it.

Second of all, actually writing a genuine virus and releasing it == very real jail time. Lots of it.

Just putting something in the startup folder may make it start on runtime, but if they have a decent AV system it's heuristics will catch it if you actually make it self replicating.

If you're just making a program that copies itself out to systems and changes backgrounds then just say that.

As for being hard as hell to take out - please don't make me laugh.

Hi. I have another question. I was doing my usual maintenance and cleaning out the cache.,etc.....bye bye cookies, temp internet files, clean up C and defrag., etc.....
I also clicked to clear out the history of visited websites. Now, I understood that to mean that it would clear out all the things that I have typed into the Google Search Bar as well. However, all the stuff I have typed into there is still there.
How do I get all that to go away?

I'm not familliar with the latest Internet Explorer, but here's how to do it on version 6

From the "Tools" menu, pick "Internet Options"
click on the "Content" tab
In the personal information section, click the "AutoComplete" button
Finally click "Clear Forms"

The Google toolbar is a separate add-on to Internet Explorer and uses its own history and settings.

To clear this, you click the Google logo right next to the search box and then click "Clear Search History."

Nibblet's method will only clear out the information typed into forms on websites (such as the search box at Google.com). While this is a good idea too, it won't clear out the Google Toolbar history.

You're wasting your time defragmenting your hard drive. Microsoft's NTFS file system, standard on their operating systems since Windows 2000, is fragmentation resistant.

Clearing out your cache and deleting cookies are also wastes of time for the average user. Do you have a specific reason for doing this? I would think your time would be better spent running Spybot - Search and Destroy.
