Happened? Well, if you mean by fiancée and ny state, well....

I separated from my soon to be ex wife about 2 years ago (come aug) and have been doing a long distance relationship with a *gasp* Yankee. Lol. Currently engaged and hopefully in the next few years I'll get sponsored and become one Of them. Lol. She was going to move up here but her ex hubby is giving her lots of issues regarding the custody of their young son. So with her living about an hour from Ottawa, which is where my ex and my son now live it actually works out if I move down there. It's a complex situation but its doable. I plan on continuing to work up here as the schedule allows me a lot of travel time but eventually I think I'll stay down there. Time will tell.

But driving a dodge ram a total of 1400 Kms round trip is kinda harsh on the wallet. I'm thinking the bike might be a nice change of pace and I'm actually doing some leg work on trading it in on a vw Jetta tdi.

I do the drive Down there twice a month for a week at atime so it's not too bad.

Jetta TDI, isn't that about 1100 to 1300 km per tank???

A co-worker has a Beetle TDI (same drivetrain), and averages 40 MPG in it if he keeps out of the boost.

Around 1000 Kms per tank appetently. Pretty cool. 34 mpg combined mileage according to some of my google searches. Could be higher depending on who's reviewing I guess

Cruise control on the highway works well to keep your mileage the best it can be.

I used cruise control on my Mitsubishi when travelling to Alberta and back. It made a huge difference in the mileage.

Also for diesels, your best mileage is when you're in top gear, your torque converter is locked up, but you're not into the boost yet. That's usually around 65 or 70 MPH.

Well, took the bike out for the first ride yesterday. Nothing fell off or exploded. So good deal. Now I'm waiting for the inevitable snow storm that always happens after my first ride. Lol. Waiting on my paper work to clear for my new car. I should know on Monday if everything's good on the finance side and bingo.

Ride the bike to work last night. Didn't get rained or snowed on. Going to tempt fate and try again tonight. It's actually supposed to stay above freezing at night so yay me. Lol

Just about dumped my bike on some sand coming out of the parking lot this morning though. Was definitely a wake up call. Was accelerating out onto the road and I guess I didn't wait long enough to make sure I was off the sandy/gravel parking lot and on the paved access road and the whole "O Ring" end skewed out and I just about bit the biscuit. Lol. But alls well that ends well and I held it and made it home. Yay!

And blues, it's a 2012 vw Jetta tdi. I'll find out Monday when I give the bank a call.
