Re: What did you do today...
I went to the annual Western Powerpsorts swapmeet today.....not much swapping going on probably because of the rain...
I did buy a pair of Alpinestar gloves though.
I also watched the Canucks lose in OT to the LA Kings. Sure was some poor referreeing (SP?) tonight.

we have a swap meet twice a year near me. I never go because its a $10 cover charge per person. Little expensive in my book.blues2cruise wrote:I went to the annual Western Powerpsorts swapmeet today.....not much swapping going on probably because of the rain...

Re: What did you do today...
I went to the Delaware Valley Norton Rider's show, "Gathering of the Nortons" today. Lot's of Nortons, BSA's, Triumphs, 3 Vincents (two twins and a single), a Royal Enfield twin, a Bultaco, several not-quite-vintage-but-still-classic Ducati's and Moto Guzzi's. Three 1940's vintage Indians. A couple of BMW /2's. And a real, running '74 Kawaski S-3 (400cc triple two-stroke) that just sounded sweet. And tons more. All of these are ridden in, not trailered.
And the folks that attend tend towards unusual bikes, lots of uncommon Euro stuff there. So the parking lot is kind of a second show.
Hmmm....... third weekend in April, go to the Norton show.... I'm seem to be in kind of a rut here. See last year's post

The coolest thing is most of these bikes are ridden there, not trailered.

Just out riding around.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Always wear a helmet, eye protection, and protective clothing. Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

We don't have to pay to go look or buy. If you are a seller, you have to rent a table for ten $$.ofblong wrote:we have a swap meet twice a year near me. Re: What did you do today...
Yesterday I washed windows and pulled weeds. Here there is a prohibition on using herbicides so it is either pull em or ignore them. I have heard that corn glutton will keep the weeds in check or at least stop them from having seeds. So far, even though Canadian tire advertises the stuff they did not have any. Will keep looking. After doing yard chores I thought I deserved a ride so I went. Went to a school parking lot to do some practice and almost dropped the bike. The lot was covered with sand although that had no bearing on dropping(almost) the bike. I tried to start with the bars locked over and missjudged throttle and clutch resulting in a stall with the bike leaned into the turn. Not to be detered I continued practice with slow speed, serpentine and figure eights. Then I went for a bit of a ride, really great weather. However my mind (what is left of it) wondared away somewhere just as I was entering a left curve. When my mind returned from I know not where, there we were, bike and me heading to the right shoulder then to rocks then to trees. Fortunately I read the posts here religiously. So in the secound available to me before coming up close and personal with a pine tree, my wayward mind decided to think. Not being a fast rider, usually only a bit faster than the posted speed limit, and the curve was only a curve, not a decreasing radius or off camber, I followed advice that I had read here. Dont hit the brakes, keep throttle steady, increase sharpness of turn, as in all likely hood one is well within the limits of the bikes capability. Low and behold went around the curve without any problems. Thereon I kept brain with me for the rest of the ride. However my inner devil came out a little later. Took it up to 160kmh(100mph). Of course it was on a long straight stretch where I was reasonably sure there were not police lurking with radar. Once at 160 I still had 6000rpm left so I think it could do the 220kmh that the speedometer indicates. I think H@#l will freeze over before I try that.
Anyway over all a nice ride. Saw some deer but ther were thirty feet up on a rock cut and not a concern.
