Re: What did you do today...
i replaced a friend's mailbox this morning. dug the hole, then mixed and poured the concrete around the new post. gonna let it dry overnight before removing the supports that i used on the post.
the last few weeks have been spent recovering from my hip surgery and driving to phoenix every weekend because my grandma went back into the hospital and is now in a rehab facility until they feel she's physically strong enough to live on her own. i'm pretty sure she's just going to leave long before they'd willingly release her.
i did ride the motorcycle up there this past weekend. ended up putting around 700 miles on it from friday night - sunday evening. mid 90s on sunday with no clouds and heavy crosswinds on i-10. i was absolutely beat by the time i got home.
now i'm at work, catching up on the forums.

im not sure, but i DO know that my yard needs to be mowed.Wrider wrote:blues2cruise wrote:12 ounces.Wrider wrote:How much is 355 mL? hahaYeah I know... I just gotta mess with you guys! Yes I know ours is the backwards measuring system. (Who bases a foot on 12 inches and a yard on 36 inches or 3 feet when we have a base 10 math system?)

still recovering - back to crutches, then walking with a stick, then running - then hopefully riding again!

Re: What did you do today...
decided that since my wife finally got a job that I am going to go and see what I can do about getting her a 2009 Kawasaki StX. Ends up being about $50/week for 3 years assuming I dont get them to come down any on the price. I am hoping I can get it with trailer, taxs, fees etc etc out the door for $7500. List right now is $7900. I wasnt going to ask for any gear included in that price.

Sorry guys, just gotta tell you - you colonials still have a long way to go to compete with the monosyllabic, Anglo-Saxon thuggishness of the classic British biker. Your attention spans are far too long and your capacity for coherent thought too pronounced to offer any serious competition.

Today I went to work, got a headache and came home again. Another day; another dollar.

You got no romance in your soul, Wrider! The metric system is the mathematical equivalent of a 1960s shopping mall. When there is nothing else interesting in life, I like to contemplate the idea that I weigh ten stone, eleven pounds, and a few odd ounces. It feels kinda organic somehow

Oh, Hud....
Imagination, romance or organics have nothing to do with measurement systems, other than to create confusion and decrease accuracy.
You don't want the guy who designed your engine to have 0.000043 cubits ring gap, or rod bolts torqued to 16 hogsheads.... and you really don't want the guy at the shop to have to work on your engine with specs like that to decipher.
Standardized measurement is critical to keeping our machines, buildings cities.... hell everything... running correctly and safely.
If you want to play fast and loose with standardization, look at what texting and punks on the net have done to language. U srsly think this iz ane wai 2 get a complex idea across? Mabee if U want 2 tell 10 000 of ur friends wat U had 4 lunch, or wen U take a craap, but no gud if U need 2 explain specs or procedures.
