I'm sorry... I didn't know you could get a mean streak for $8000. The Night Rod is a little cheaper than the VRSCA. Well like most Harleys you change things a little, like the seat. I rode 1100 miles plus in 22 hours on an Iron Butt ride, very comfy. If you go to the right dealer you could most likely pick one for 14 or so. but you said it right the V-Rod is the Power Cruiser. If you name a bike mean you would think it would have some real power... you know the kind that would just burn up the track. I disagree... the manufacture does not give you a lot of facts about their bikes and so professional riders take these bikes out and put them to the test and give you their opinion. Should that be your only research when looking for a bike? No! Talk to those that own them, test ride one, but to disclude a professional's opinion is not smart. Dude... I like your bike... again everybody has to chose the bike that is for them. The main thing is we are both on two wheels and lovin it. Beleive me I'm not well to do. I just found a great deal with one of the local Harley dealers. It was in 2003 and the dealer was selling them for $3000 under list. Really, enjoy the ride. Dude... take a ride or something... I thought the article was a good article for someone to read if they were thinking about buying any of these bikes. None of these bikes are "perfect". I was mislead when I was shopping for a bike. I knew what I wanted and took a hard look at the meanie and found it didn't have the power i was looking for and when I sat on it, it made me feel like i was driving an 18 wheeler or something. I don't take issue with the article. It was a test of straight line performance and that's the only thing that mattered in the score book. For that reason, the Mean Streak lost and earned its place (incidentally, the article was written before the bump in displacement in '04). What I do take issue with is your clever condescension disguised as objective observation. Saying it's a good bike to just "putt around on" and then comparing it to an Eliminator 125 is downright arrogant, and is no-doubt something you picked up from the Harley forums. I believe I did (and I'm sure Loonette did as well). I read every "the Mean Streak is the slowest of the bunch" review that was available as of July '04 and happened to notice that, despite all the disdain for the mill, no one ever faulted the handling, brakes, or ergonomics - something every other bike got hammered for. It's a whole lot easier to pursuade more power out of an engine than it is to correct chassis shortcomings.diggerv wrote:I just think you should get all the info you can
