Funny this subject should come up. I heard on the news the other day that results for the annual "test" of young adult geography came out. They usually pick places that've been in the news for months and ask a bunch of 18-24 yr. olds to locate it on a map. Every year, some huge percentage can't find places like Louisiana or Saudi Arabia.

No surprise and it doesn't point to any new deficiency in schools. I remember when I graduated from high school (20 something yrs ago), I couldn't point out much on a map either. A few years later I took my first really long motorcycle trip and learned where all of the western states were :laughing:

It's funny, I was always a lot more knowledgeable in school then 95% percent of my classmates, but I dropped out. The dropping out pretty had nothing to do with intelligence, but more to do with being sick ALOT, as well as some drug problems when I was a junior.

I always thought it was funny that I was near the bottom of my class, yet I knew more on most subjects than my teachers did.
