I have my own personal hard-bound copy of "1984", and consider it a reference book for modern government and civilization, rather than fiction. Every week, month, and year, we get closer to living the model presented in that book. In 20 years or less, the book will be almost 100% accurate. Just wait. And learn to speak Chinese.

1984 should be required reading for all politicians.

I have a weakness for William Gibson's Cyberpunk scibblings. Fiction yes, but he takes underlying trends to extreme lengths.

The NSA, spelled NeoCons (the new con man) under "King" George have for the security of the US (us?) tapped all of the phone calls since 2001. It is no wonder that they haven't transcribed them - "that's a lot of work!"
But seriously, now we know why Kerry and the Democrats couldn't win the election, I mean with Bush knowing every move you make before you do it by tapping the lines- it's no wonder. ...And they called Nixon Tricky Dick! Is this fighting domestic terrorism or what - keep the dems out of power!
I hear the NSA has outsourced the matching of phone numbers to names to a private company.
Quest refused to turn over the records- said it was illegal.

This keeps getting better & better. Want to bet this is a primary reason for collecting these records ? Track down those who dare tell the truth.

It's ironic I'm actually sticking up for the press. The last important story the press broke was the Watergate scandal. Then again a good journalist sneaks in once in a while.
It's been said that a free press is the fourth branch of govt.
Looks like that may be drying up soon too.

It's the replies to the article that is scaring the hell out of me.

How would tapping your phone keep you from voting for Kerry?

True. I'm always amazed that people like this exist. Haven't any of these people read a book ?

I didn't read all the replys on that site. I think what their trying to illustrate is infomation about Kerry was leaked. The leaked info influenced peoples opinions on Kerry, so it influenced their vote. Don't matter much anyway. Theres no difference between the Democrats & Republicans.

Exactly, there was just as much information leaked about Bush. It's expected, everyone knows that when someone is running for a high position like that, every single little bad thing they have done in their life will come out for the public to see.
