So... you're agreeing with me?

When you get asked for an opinion, you're on the line for whatever you said. That's all I'm saying. We need to offer the best advice we have, whatever it may be and let the other person figure it out. But once we have offered our opinion we are invested.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Perhaps I may be misreading your meaning, but I assume you are implying we are responsible for the actions which follow the advice seeker. If so, then No, i'm not agreeing. If an opinion is sought, and I offer, once the topic is closed, so is my "investment".

I only ride motorbikes (includes trikes), I am only licenced for motorbikes

My first bike with all my gear cost £500 or so. Yes I bought a beater, yes my friends have been very involved in keeping it on the road.

But the same applies if I had bought a car, in fact to be totally honest I couldnt afford a beater car.

If Motorbikes are luxury items, then so are cars...

Yeah, but you do know that your case is rather rare. If 1 in 100 riders are in your situations, I think that would be a lot.

Like everything else, you can do a lot if you really want to, or if you really need to. In the US I think it is even more true - it is a luxury for most folks. I think in the UK (and Europe) there are more riders who do so to save money.

I can think of three other riders off the top of my head who don't have car licences or cars.

This however may be because we are all in the UK.

Probably 50% of the posts on this entire forum are "unecessary."

So who made you the relevancy police?

Motorcycling is definately a luxury expense thing for me. I don't commute on a bike or tour or anything like that. I just go out on the weekends to have fun.
