Hey! Don't be dissing latin! I took latin for a couple of years (along with spanish, french, and japanese). Latin was the best, and I don't care if it is a dead language, most modern languages still have roots in latin, so it's makes it easy to understand modern languages when you know the roots. Although, you can toss everything I just said, because I've only passed on year of latin, and failed everything else (including spanish twice).
And freud was idiot. He tried to analyze everything, using himself for what "normal" should be. I'm pretty sure he discovered the edipus (sp?) complex, and tried to say that was something normal, because he himself had an odd relationship with his mother.

Well, I'm not a lawyer... yet... but I got plans!
Driving lessons... you got a deal.
It really is no big issue... except I live 20 miles down an undivided rural (1 lane in each direction) highway... and that teaches you something about human nature. There are a lot of fatalities on this stretch of road... 5-10 a year actually (four within a six week stretch last year), and most of those fatalities are the result of impatient people trying to pass slow moving vehicles. Slow moving vehicles are often going over the speed limit by the way. The interesting part is *where* the fatalities happen. It isn't at the passing zones, and it isn't at the blind curves.... it is where there are turnouts for slow traffic to pass.
Why there? Because so many slow vehicles DON'T use the turn-outs. They say "I'm doing 60 in a 55MPH zone, fudge this guy behind me who wants to break the law!" And the asshat behind, who is driving an F250 or the like, passes and head-ons a geo metro and guess who dies? Not the people in the F250.
I've been driving that road for a long time...since I bought my house 11 years ago... and it has taught me a lot of caution, but more it has taught me that it really doesn't matter who is right, and it doesn't matter that someone else is being an asshat... what matters is minimizing the risk to everyone by accomodating the jerks who want to drive 85 in a 55 zone...because if you didn't accomodate them, and some family in a minivan minding their own business going the other way died, they'd still be dead no mater how right you were or how good it felt to mess with the asshat.
There are a lot of better solutions... more law enforcement, passing lanes, chemical castration for the asshats, the list is long... but those solutions aren't happening... and you've got to deal with what is happening right then and there. And one of the easiest solutions is to curb people of this silly passive agressive "I'm obeying the law so screw them!" attitude that so many people have. It doesn't matter... just be safe and let them past even if you think they are wrong.
The situation you described is similar in that you could've eased off a bit... barely an inconvenience... and diffused the situation painlessly and effortlessly.
And if you don't you are risking the lives of children. You don't hate children... do you?
Oh, and if you like Jung...welcome to the world of interacting with an ENTP with definite J qualities.

This has been an interesting flame to say the least. It's interesting that during this whole time you keep harping on me being a blocker. Your missing the most critical part which is my or others actions didn't make that woman do anything. She is the one who decided to risk her life and kids lives by passing in the breakdown lane.
There was no reason on this or any other planet for that woman to pull that move.

I wouldn't exactly call Freud an idiot after a 100+ years his theories are still believed by many people. I think the reason for that tho is he was first to develop a comprehensive personality theory. Theres alot of value in being the first in a field.

Jungian types test. I took this a while ago couldn't remember the results. Took it again and came up with INTJ.
Kinda funny tho since my job doesn't fit that mold.
Maybe everyone should take the test.

You are still missing the point.
Why it happened does not matter.
What she did wrong does not matter.
That others were making mistakes does not matter.
Who is at fault does not matter.
What matters is that there was a dangerous situation that you, unilaterally and without cost or risk, could have diffused....
The situation is... well, it is like walking in a park and seeing a razor blade in the grass. You didn't put that razor there. Whoever did put it there broke littering laws at the very least. It is perfectly legal for you to walk on by without doing anything. But a razor blade in the grass is a hazardout situation. Not for you, because you've identified it, but for joggers, kids, animals, and everyone else who comes after you.
You are completely within your rights to walk away swearing at idiots who leave razor blades lying around... but, for just a momentary effort that would be hard to measure in the scheme of things you can pick that blade up and dispose of it properly.
What is the difference? One recognizes the dangerous situation, the other DIFFUSES the dangerous situation. It removes the danger for everyone.
That is what I'm suggesting you do in the future... reduce the danger to everyone when you find dangerous situations. Do it without ego, do it without moral indignation, and do it without any attempt to "correct" the other driver. Just remove the danger and go on.
In this case, you were a blocker. In another case you might very well be making a turn and have someone run the light. In another, you might be doing 65 in a 65 zone and come upon a truck doing 25. In every case, the goal is to diffuse the danger and minimize the risk to everyone.

It's Oedipus Complex (son in love with mother, wants sex

) and I think Freud was a "procreating" psycho. For one thing he was on drugs most of the time (cocaine, look it up) and he also blamed everything any man or woman did because they were in love with their mother/father (in a sexual way). "fudge" Freud up the "O Ring" with a Goldwing!

Damn, that would hurt, those goldwings are huge.
But yeah, I agree, he tried to analyze other people, using himself as the norm, which he wasn't, by far. But, he was important in starting the study of psychology.

Don't you get it, Mr. Gompers? In order to be a safe driver you must become an enabler! Like a middle school that hands out condoms or the spouse of an alcoholic, you must make it as easy as possible for aggressive drivers to be aggressive. You must be willing to risk receiving a speeding citation by passing an already speeding driver in an effort to allow a deranged mother of two to pass you so she can get to the red light first! What dieziege is trying to say is, he likes to speed and he's tired of law-abiding, mother-loving, asshats like you getting in his way! When you see a speeder or whatever coming your way, pull your car into the ditch and come to a complete stop. We all know the scum of the earth has the right of way! Didn't you take drivers' ed?

That pretty much sums it up. If you are a normal driver, you've got to be an enabler...because others will mess you up if you aren't. Worse, they'll mess up innocent bystanders. If you are a cop, then by all means stop the aggressive drivers and give them tickets. If you aren't a cop... don't be trying to "put people in their place"... don't be trying to impose justice. You lack the powah. Just try and do what you want to do and let them do what they are going to do anyway.
As for my being blocked... dude, I ride a sportbike...high power an all that shiz... I can pass any "law-abiding" asshat going. It's the f'ers in F250s, SUVs, and bloat-boat cruiserbikes that scare me 'cause they pass over double yellows and come head-on into my lane a couple times a month.
As driver's ed taught you, "it is everyone's responsibility to avoid accidents!"
Well, it taught me that... should have taught you too but it seems you missed it.
