What do you guys think of the M50

105MPH is not cruising . It's speeding and anyone running like that deserves all the tickets they can accumulate............

And if I ever have a bike that I consider a POS , I wouldn't be complaining I would be getting rid of it . End of story !

Now this is confusing. One guy loves the m50 and the other guy hates it.

What do you think would be a better midsize cruiser than the M50? The S50?

The other mid size contenders i like would be the vstar 650 and i like the Vulcan 750 because of the fuel gauge and the tach up front.

I could very well be buying this weekend.

Half of me still wants to go cheapo and buy the GZ250 because all i would do is ride the 20min each way to work on it every day but i do want something i can be proud off.

1) you can/should be proud of any bike... once you are riding you are riding and that's what matters.

2) Moto is...well...click on his profile and go to the "find all posts by...." link... read what he writes... he's either intentionally trying to sound like an idiot or he's a natural.

3) All the bikes you listed are reasonable choices. I'd add the Vulcan 500LTD to the list and hte Yam Virago.... and maybe pull the GZ250 off... but sit on them and decide.

If not the M50, I'd pick the Vulcan 750. Though the styling is dated, it still has a lot of features that modern day cruisers lack.
It is one of the only two cruiser bikes still produced that have a center stand.
Shaft drive for low maintenance.
Hydraulic Valve adjusters to eliminate that maintenance task.
Fuel guage.
Mag wheels so you'll have tubeless tires.
The bike has been in production since the 80's so it will have all the bugs worked out, spare parts will be easy to find and shows a testament to the bike's "staying" power...

The first thing I'd change on a 750 though is that ugly gawd awful seat.

I can't say much about the M50 other then they look great. The S50 I have runs really well and has plenty of getup. It's a bit coldblooded but once it warms up it's a pretty fast cruiser. the lite weight makes it nimble and the handling is great. Not the most comfortable to ride on, but once i put a sheepskin cover on the seat it greatly improved long distance riding (300 miles a day is walk in the park). If I had to go back and do it all over again i'd still purchase this bike.

Different people - Different Opinions. Did you expect anything less asking your question to a worldwide forum of people? Give me any product on the face of the planet and I'll bet I can find someone who loves it and someone who hates it.

Anyway, MotoF150 hates his ride, mostly because he wanted something else originally and didn't go with his gut. Now he's regretting it. He claims the bike is Uncomfortable. Go to your local dealership, sit on the thing for a half hour and see how it feels. And bear in mind, if you like EVERY THING ELSE about the bike, then you can get aftermarket mods to affect your comfort level on the bike.

Do your research, make your choice, quit worrying about Opinions, stick with the facts, and most of all, ENJOY THE RIDE, WHATEVER YOU GET!

YES!!! And the fact is, at least MY M50 is teh roxxors!!!!!ONEONE111shiftoneone!!!

Anyway, as stated above, I didn't get the bike to try and go 105 mph. I got it to "cruise" with, hence the term "cruiser". It's an 800. I don't expect it to break any land speed records. If you're wanting something a little "peppier", go for the S50. Again, not my favorite in styling, but I've seen a lot of nice ones out there. Also, there are a lot more aftermarket parts and "bling" for that than the M50. I'm a "stock" person, so the lack of aftermarket gadgets didn't bother me at all.
Sure, there are things I wish that my M50 has that it doesn't have...like a fuel gauge, but the 2007's do have a gauge, so...there ya go. The lack of a tach didn't bother me. I had never ridden before, but if you listen to the engine, you just get a feeling of when to shift.
As was stated before, you'll get different opinions from different people here. Check out a few other sites, too, to get their opinions. Personally, out of the ones I was looking at, the Yamaha V-Star and the Suzuki M50 were my only choices. I didn't care for the "dated" styline of the Kawasaki (my own opinion...), and the Honda Shadow Spirit 750 had a chain drive. Not a fan of the big fenders, so didn't care for the Aeros...although they are shaft drive.
It's all a matter of opinion. Go to a few dealers, sit on a few for an extended amount of time and see how you like it.
Whatever bike you end up getting, if you have problems with it, take it back to the dealer ASAP to have them take a look at it. Do NOT go bashing it on boards about how EVERY one of that particular model sucks and needs to be scrapped.

The 1100 Honda, 1100 Yamaha, and the Kawasaski Vulcan 800 is faster than the Suzuki M50, The Honda Shadow 750 and the Yamaha V Star 650 is slower than the M50. Didn't any of you guys EVER ride with any other bikes and it ends up in a race? Everybody I know that owns a bike will exceed the speed limit the first day they own the bike to see how fast it goes. When I said it goes 105MPH don't mean I go at that speed all the time, I had it that fast only 2 times since I owned it. If you want the Suzuki 50 bike go with either the S50 or the C50, at least that bike will be more comfortable than that M50, but don't come crying to me and complain about another bike that passed you up cause these bikes are not designed to be fast. When I purchaced my M50 I was told that the M50 is just as fast as any 1100, its not. I just wanted to set the record straight.
