you see, the only bad thing you mentioned is that they wear faster.

which is not bad since like skier said, his friends get aorund 5000 miles.

heck, like i said, i'll be happy w/ 3500-4000 miles.

but we did get sidetracked when you questioned why i wanna change brands.

Based on the prices on Michelin's website it's an additional $30 American for just the back tire. Assumption would leave me to believe that the cost difference would be the same for the front.

That being said, the reduced durability indicated on the micheline site leads me to believe it will need to be replaced much more often. This is only an issue if you don't want to be buying new tires all the time.

And I wouldn't trust that kneedraggers site for a split second about any claims they make regarding any of the tires they sell. Here's my reasoning. I looked at the "use/stats picture" that they used for my tires, the Pilot Roads, and it was not the one that Michelin uses on their website. Seen here which to me means that something is fishy, or incorrect. Comparrison on Kneedraggers is here.

To tires the same with different stats REALLY bothers me.

thanks sev.

looks lke the pilot road is even more expensive than the pilot powers for my bike.

pilot road - F $128, R $158

pilot powers - F $117, R $150

qualifiers - F $104, R $127

diablo - F $99, R $129

and yeah, maybe the specs knee draggers has is the old one for last year.

Possible, have you looked up the stats on your stock tires yet?

When I picked my tire up instore the road was cheaper then the power for some reason.

- fast warm up
- great feedback
- soft but last long
- 41.9º lean at wet, 50.6º lean at dry. NICE! (yes i know rider skill has someting to do w/ it)
I*'m not really seeing specs there, just marketing blurb...

By the way I'm fairly sure that the Continental Road Attacks I mentioned Nick Sanders using on his R1 were also on the BMW's that Ewen McGregor and Charlie Boorman went the long way round on.

They would have to be the coolest looking tyres ever.

The Powers are less than $10 more (for a set) than the Roads from swmototires - which is where I ordered my powers from. They DO grip like nobody's business, and mine have demonstrated quite outstanding wear (I've got right at 4000mi on them right now, and have hardly any measurable wear - there is at least another 4k mi in them). Rain grip is pretty outstanding as well - though my metric for comparison is probably skewed (the only other tires I've had on my SV were the factory rim protectors, Dunlop D220s). I did get rained on for a good hour on Saturday, while on a rather twisty, shoulder free, two lane county road. At no point did my Powers get squirrely, front or rear. On the note of decreased straight line stability - yes, the Powers turn in at near light speed. You think about leaning left, and you're leaning left. Roads by contrast, have a rather lethargic turn in (this is also from personal experience on a friend's PR shod SV.)

Already mentioned, but worth mentioning again - are the Continental Road Attacks. They will grace my wheels when my Powers have reached the limit of useful life. All accounts from personal friends, to the vast sea of misinformation we call the Internet, are shining. While they take a bit longer to heat up, I've heard no complaints in the grip area wet or dry. Life is reportedly also nothing short of outstanding. Personally, I do not think that you (Verm) will outride a set of Road Attacks, or Pilot Roads - but I also know that you will buy what you want to buy regardless of rational input from the board. Honestly, I can't fault you for wanting Powers - I made the same decision you're making 4000mi ago. I don't regret it.

I believe the problems with greatly accelerated wear come to people that ride like idiots. That's point blank, if it applies to you - take it with a grain of salt, chances are my opinions are irrelevant to you. I personally know a number of people getting over 7k miles on their Pilot Powers. Granted more than half of them are also on SV650s, so we don't have the tire shredding horsepower of the GSXR line, but we're all rather fond of carving up the local twisties. Even my GSXR riding friends get over 5k out of their tires. If you ride like a ham-fisted fool everywhere you go, you can probably nuke a set of sport-touring tires in a month. Ride smooth, ride fast, and enjoy the life of your tires.

thanks mack.

that's another + for the PP.

the continental is... F $92, R $127.

if im gonna go for something cheaper like the continental... i'd go w/ the qualifiers instead.
