I've only seen a 125cc bike on the road once (an eliminator) but the person did seem like they were having as much fun as I was on the strom.
Listen to what you said. 3500 gets you gear of your choice and a used bike.So why not spend that on gear that you might not exactly want, But you get a new bike with actual warranty, a much better idea.

Actually I said $3,000. And 3+ year old ninja 250's and rebels have a bit more power, most likely won't need warranty work and cost between 1800-2200 in my area. So that's 800-1200 to spend on gear you do want, and have a more powerful bike better able to handle traffic and the interstate. I live in the DC metro area and the best way to get around is the interstate where cars are goings 70-80 mph on average.
I still see it as a better plan. If the honda was a 250 and it could compete on par with the ninja 250- then I could see a 3500 OTD price being very competitive. I just don't see much potential for a 125

Thats also a good point too. I guess it is how you would look at it.

Theres a lad that lives round the corner who has a CBR125, over here though they tend to be hammered by the hooligan 2 stroke 125's... The CBR has been here for a long time now and is a solid little bike. Dosn't actually look all that small unless you park it ne3xt to something like a Blackbird.

Mmmm Babyblade... I'd love to own the CBR250 or possibly the CBR400 at some point. Which is not to say I am having a terrifying ammount of good fun on the GB250...
