Isn't America grand!! I work my butt off caring for sick people, but I dont get health benefits to care for myself. Freaking ridiculous...
Im searching for a new job, outside of healthcare that offers benefits. Im sick of working in healthcare anyway, so this is a good time to look!

Thanks! Still job hunting. I went to urgent care, they said I can work but not to lift more than 5 lbs

! SURE! What nursing job allows that lol.
Ah such is life! I went on a SHORT ride Saturday - 5 miles each way. It was fun, but I took it easy

Are you going to stay in the nursing field?
I think you should just cruise around the MotoGP scene and hold an umbrella got to be an easier way.
Seriously, back problems are the worst. Get better soon!

No! I want out of this field. The mental and physical pain is not worth it..Im seeking another field! I plan to go back to school to work in IT - Network Administration.

Before my back surgery, I was a IT network administrator for about 10 years. Unless you want to commit to on call every night and work weekends all on a salary, you don't get paid for weekends or coming in during the week and the education that goes for the length of your career. Rethink it. My wife is a RN and I can compare the two. Network admin is not a family or personal life position. Your life is work and that is expected as part of the job, period.
Now if your really into IT then consider programming only. It still has some of the issues mentioned but not to the same degree and still pays very well if not better.
Last issue is from about 1996 to 2001 there was a artificial gut of people being educated in IT due to the Y2K issue. Net Admins have been taking pay cuts due to supply and demand ever since. I was use to 8 to 12% pay raises and bonus's. Not your lucky to have a job and get 2%.
Anyone in the medical field can almost snap their fingers and get a job. Not so in IT. It's eat or be eaten. Sure my wife has to keep up, but nothing like I had to do on my own time and own money. I would spend 10 to 20 hours per week on my own time keeping up. The field has exploded and mgt still expects the same people to keep up with all of it. The pure number of changes in the medical field is nothing compared to IT. i.e. a RN (Charge or not) to a IT Network Admin.
The back issue is a good reason to get out of the hospitals. No matter what each hospitals say, you'll be boosting people everywhere. Min at outpatient procedural clinics (decent pay if you have a few operating room or recovery years, less if you have the basic med/surg experience) and no to little boosting at the traditional Dr. office. (lowest paying but the least stressful on your back for the long run and if you can get a decent working relationship with Dr. Rickard.... Head. Surgeons are the worst and peds are the best to work for.
I'll quit my rambling you just hit something I know about myself and my wife as well. If you want any clarification on other info let me know. It would be helpful if I knew you are a RN 2 year or 4 year, LPN, CPN, NP, NA and state of licensure.

Didnt get any pictures on yesterdays ride, this week for sure though! Yesterday we rode around town for about an hour, then stopped for a bite to eat and a cold drink, wandered around in Border's. Then rode home, another 20 minutes. I felt a little stiff, but not to bad!
Today the doctor gave me clearance to go back to full time work, just to be very careful, and wear a back brace of some sort. Guess that means its fine to ride
On the plus side...today I got a new job, still in nursing - just one patient in her home. 12 hour shifts - Mon/Wed/Fri. So Tuesday and Thursday, which are the "bike nights" here are free, and weekends!! WOOHOO!! Plus a 2$ raise

. Im a happy camper today!
