I can't wait until I have him put back together...
What did you do to your bike?
Nothin' bad! Just sprucin' him up a bit: new windscreen, frame sliders, tail sliders, new integrated tail light, grips, painting the instrument dash, coolant flush, oil change, etc. etc.
Stuff that has required I take off nearly every piece of plastic on him, plus a number of things that looked more permanent. Plus, while the plastics are off, I've been doing a super wax job on 'em so they look purty!
The annoying thing is that I'll get Humpty put back together and then more mods will arrive and he falls apart again.

I'll put my two cents in. When I was looking for a bike I fell in love with the yamaha fz6 and fz1. I recently bought an fz1 and love it. It is plenty fast. Handles really well and is pretty comfortable. I didn't even feel too bad after riding a 740 mile day on it. Plus I think the standard styling with the minimalistic front fairing is sexy

Ha thought this thread was done already.. came to the conclusion of what fits best and ect.
BUT the daytona triumph looks very good, slim and not too many people around here have them.. if any.
I would like to sit on one but I don't think there are any dealers around Ft Wayne Indiana?

Here's a list of REAL ALL AROUND BIKES you should look into. This is totally off the top of my head and will run the spectrum from sporty-ish to upright. There's many more that I have not mentioned
Bandit 1200
VFR 800
FZ1
Honda 919
Katanas, SV's
Ninja 650R, and that new Versys looks cool
Various ZRX1100/1200/Z1000 deals that the go green crowd likes
Ducati ST2, ST3, etc, perhaps some of the Monsters too
edit: forgot the Vstrom, that's a great one
I don't know, there's dozens.
As stated previously, the best choice for you is the one that FITS the best and you have a connection with. For all around street riding and occasional weekend warrior track duty 10 horsepower here or 20 pounds there is bullshit. You want something you'll enjoy the look, feel, and sound of day in and day out. Not that many people find full on supersports to be all that overly comfortable for the long haul. If you can more power to you, but there's a whole world of bikes that might not be on the front cover of the magazine but they're really good all around machines.

One could make the arguement that's a sport-tourer and not a sportbike.

You can make an "argument" about darn near anything you like,

That is why I put th "ST" at the start of my post

Cuz out here in the "Desert" that stands for Sport Tourer
