I have an 8GB Nano and a 30GB iPod Video.
The 30GB iPod was the same price as the Creative knockoff, is much smaller, and has a far superior user interface.
For the Nano? Creative didn't even offer anything remotely close at the time I bought it.
Remember ladies and gentlemen: "it's the size that counts." Not the sound quality, not the software, not the number of availible codecs/music/video types, not the fact that apple uses a proprietary codec system, not the fact that apple doesn't allow you to sync to more then one computer, not the embedded DRM in apple's codec system, not the battery life.
"It's smaller, so it's better."
Rockbox throws every single one of your points out the window.
Besides, the iPod with iTunes, as stock, work with MP3s right out the box. There's no DRM. Even if you rip music to AAC with iTunes, there is no DRM in "Apple's CODEC system." It's not even Apple's CODEC. It's not proprietary unless you're talking about FairPlay DRM which comes on tracks bought from iTunes. It's an industry standard CODEC that works with hundreds of various programs and portable music players.
The 30GB has better battery life than the Creative.
The 5th gen iPods also have audio quality at least as good as the Creative versions.
Your BS is very tiring. You should at least find out what you're talking about before you start up.

they were the same price yet in reality to your thinking creative has a less clunky user interface, can accept more types of files and has much better sound quality than the ipod all for the same price. hmm ill go for the creative anyday. Nano = gay "I wanna be like everyone else" toy that is nothing but pure "crumb". Dont get me wrong the ipods are good just nto as good as the creative does. However the nano's are pure junk and not wortht the time and $$$ people spend on them. kinda like what sev said lol.
0h and of course diemonkeys is right but then you lose the warranty as soon as you install it.
Oh jesus.
What do you wear at the gym?
Oh, wait. The gym?

Rockbox improves battery life, screen size, video clarity and improves sound quality???
That's the single greatest piece of software ever! I want to invest! I'm gonna be soooooooo rich.

Battery life, yes. Video clarity, yes. Sound quality, hell f***ing yes!. Screen size? No.
RockBox allows you to control your battery life by letting you control what's going on, such as shutting down, most mp3 players go to sleep, which means it's still using the battery, where as with RockBox you actually cut the device off.
RockBox allows for different video codecs to be used, thereby allowing for better clarity with better codecs than what was originally offered.
RockBox allows you to use many lossless formats such as .APE and .FLAC which GREATLY improve sound quality over .mp3 and .AAC even at full bitrate (320kbps cannot touch lossless). And with the new larger sized drives out there on mp3 players it's a viable format to use. Now I'd understand using 96kbps .mp3 on a 2gb flash player. But I've filled up my iRiver with more music than I can listen to in a week, approximately 95% of it is in .FLAC.
Oh, and you can't invest, RockBox is part of the GNU movement. Opensource baby, yeah!

when talking codec's I am referring more to video not audio. No ipod to date has as good quality of music as any creative in existance. Itunes does not use industry standard codec's in fact they use non industry standard so that people that dont quite understand how things work have no choice but to use apple to get their music.
I use my creative on walks around town, rides to whereever I may be going (usually work), train rides to other places like a friends house in mississippi, airplane rides etc etc etc. I have run that creative everyday of the week 4-5hrs/day and only had to charge it at the end of the week. One thing ipod has over creative, however, is the range of speakers. creative doesnt have much to choose from where as ipod has a ton of speakers to chose from.

iPod has the most accessories... and some of the stupidest ones in my opinion. A toilet paper roll holder with built in speakers that you can plug your iPod into... WHY???!!!! If you carry it into the bathroom you probably have headphones in. And all that hard tile makes for some of the worst acoustics you can imagine. But I digress.

You are so clueless I hardly know where to start.
I got warned about arguing with you once. I'm going to take that advice now.

That's true, watching you two argue is like watching chimpanzee's fight with nerf bats :O!
