Any one who gets on the net and asks the question "is this to much bike for a learner" already knows the answer before they waste the time to post the question.


To much bike is any bike that will bite you due to your in-experience.


Your start by saying you have no riding experience, yet some how you think a 750 sports is a good 1st choice. Its not.

750 cruiser, maybe (but I wouldn't advocate it) 750 sport was never intended to be in your hands, not in 2008 not in 1988.

nup, i live in my world, and your a guest in it so back in ya box.

It's a 70 bhp bike from 1982. How much power is it likely to be producing today? 60? 50?

The weight, brakes and handling are the things that _might_ flag it as non-ideal to me (but what do I know).

Here's a couple of newly added Craigslist examples of what I'm talking about, good starter bikes but $1800? C'mon!

Thats why they call us beginners shane-o... we have no idea what we are doing and the fact is as all the other vets on here have said the power varies a lot from bike to bike. We have our questions and if you don't wanna answer them thats fine, but don't stick your nose in just to be mean. We come here because we want help and the constructive criticism is nice. The whining about the newbies in your space is not.

look who knows what it puts out, i have no clue what mine puts out to be honest, but it is enough to keep me in check from time to time so its about the right amount id say.


My issue with these kinds of posts is not so much the machine that bothers me, its the attitude.

Nubs who wanna ride, but wanna start at the top instead of doing the sensible thing and earn some skills on a machine that will enhance the sharp learning curve they are on. Further more, I know its not in the case of this poster, but I dont want fuking wankers riding around me with no skills on big bore sports bikes, they are an accident just waiting to occur. The negative press we get now is intolerable.

settle down Bg, im not taking the pi.ss, i just dont see the need to fluff around being mindful of others potential sensitivities, say like it is. Further more, i dont have an angry bone in my body, the net is very hard place to show emotion, my sense of humour could only be described as "totally black (as in sarcasim etc etc)" there is no hidden agenda.

Have you heard of a bells curve? Im just providing the extreme right of the curve so that the original poster gets the whole gammit of possibilities

Funny you mention the "attitude". One of the things I'm trying to discuss in this thread is actually attitude of people like you. Seems like an on/off switch, no room to discuss. You are very welcome read my posts(as you admitedly did not) and my "attitude"(I did not know I had one), tell us about your experience and bikes as well as opinion on the issues or don't post at all since you're absolutely no help. W/o any background info you're just coming across as a grouchy prick, in a lack of better term.
Your response to me seems to be the same as it would be to a 16 year old with a 175hp Ninja. I even said that worst case solution for my learning curve first bike is to park the F and buy something smaller after the course. But all you seem to see is a picture of something that looks like "too much bike" in a "beginner" thread so you take out the flamethrower.
If you want to be taken seriously, discuss things as an adult and be constructive.
