Depends what you feel comfortable with. If you can ride a 600 sports then you can ride a litre.

You might like to think about a twin which will give you a stonking amount of torque/accelleration to put a smile on your face, even if you never use the power.

Something like this is a good compromise. Much more natural riding position. Plenty of power and speed for everything except extreme driving. Just got one and really like it. Honda 919
