Here's the latest news flash, courtesy of the Onion, a world leader in up-to-the-minute news.
George Bush has finally announced his exit strategy from Iraq. The plan is for the US to exit Iraq through Iran. Of course, their may be some token atomic weapons resistance, but the president feels we can match their warheads "lightbulb" for tat for mushroom cloud. The president isn't particularly concerned about casualties, as what the hey? War is Hell, right? The draft is getting clearer on the radar screen anyway, because practically NOBODY is joining the active or reserves or national guard due to the certainty of being sent to Iraq. Would you join? Yes? OK, put your life where you claim your guts are and hop right on down, the recruiters are open late. Maybe the cruiters should tell them they will be sent to the French Riviera. Wouldn't they be surprised when the planes land in Baghdad, or even Tehran?

that’s just what I think

We in Canada do appreciate the US Military and the commitment the members of the US Armed Forces have made.
Military might or not, China is most likely to become the worlds next superpower... but on military might, the numbers are close...
Total Army Members of the Chinese Military: 2.5 million (in 1999)
Total Army Members of the USA Military: 2.4 million (2004)
Hummm, pretty darn close.
The problem for the USA would be how stressed and spread out the USA military is around the world. Although I have no idea how well equiped the Chinese Military is, the USA military loves high technology.
But I doubt it would be a military conflict that would decide the next superpower. I think it would most likely be an economic and production thing without a shot ever being fired.

Their military is capable of growth we can only dream of. Compare populations. To our good, I think we are their biggest global customer, so that might help, at least for awhile. Just hope we don't have something they want real bad. I promise you, we DO NOT want a war with China.

China is the crown jewel of developing capitol. It will be the new front for growth. The wild west of the east. China is become a different place as it is altered by coperation who find the cheap labor attractive and see a growing comsumer market.
Think of this one example. Hyundai created a car for China. One model, because what else could you want in China. They soon found these people with no money and little freedom wanted a more sporty and/or upscale model. The next year they created a premium model and sold more than the basic model. That process is being repeated and creating more consumers - just like us. The Internet created a way that China could no longer block news of the world. And the world is changing and China doesn't mean what it use to mean. China will be the super consumer - not power. But in ecconomics, money is power, so I guess that might make them the super-power.
Korea and Iran on the other hand - a problem for the future.

It won't be a war. It will sneak in while you are busy riding, living your American life, enjoying the freedoms we have. China will get us by sheer numbers. They won't need guns. They have the numbers and the consumers to build a huge ecconomy.

Makes sense to me--why have a big confontational war when a bloodless, economic coup will work better and still leave the real estate intact?
Who knows, maybe at some point in time the US will become the new Taiwan....
